What about a APB style customisation? More options, detailed slidersytem

BC2 is still patched (last patch is a week old), there are DLC incoming (such as vietnam expansion), and there is still new maps coming (ok it’s only already existing map but on new gametype).
The game is like 4 months old, if you already stopped playing it, then it means that the gameplay is ****ed if you got already bored of it. I mean, come on, a DLC after 4 months only ? I’m sure that you played many others games for more than 4 months who didn’t have any DLC/new (officially official) content.

The level of broken things @ BC2 was so high that yeah, I got bored pretty quick, didnt even see the patch finaly came oO and from what I’m reading it didnt fixed many stuffs… except for stupid balance oh… and bigger hitboxes (if you cant make a smooth game / better hitcode just increase the hitboxes right?).

The maps are some jokes, bad ones … and I dont know bout vietnam stuff yet!

And, last but not least, my point was that games broken like that need many stuffs, so I rather they focus on the gameplay first. I’m not the only one who left BC2 after 1 month of gaming… stupid bug everywhere and crappy gameplay, and the patch didnt changed a squat
When I talk about patch I’m talking about stuffs that fix the game, not stuffs that break it more ala BF series.

And yeah I played games longer than that, but in an era where I couldnt afford every game I wanted + “good” FPS where rare. And, not talking about me I think that the gaming mentality is pretty much like that now, “I dont like it I go elsewhere instead of waiting”. So yeah, they better focus on gameplay rather than appealing one big bawl of customers who wont care about any community if the game doesnt meet their standards gameplay wise.

Oh and to close this argument with tony : eat my short! :smiley:

Nice answer, but your original post was about some “we sell we let you down” idea, which isn’t the case of BC2, you just picked the wrong example.
APB sux, everybody knows it, they didn’t focussed enough on the gameplay, it has been said since months everywhere, and I don’t really see the purpose of this thread atm.

Hasn’t this been the case for EVERY DiCE game ever? Why is anyone surprised? I thought it was a feature… BF:BC2 with added Whinge.

As I said, all aspects need balance, they’re all priorities to make a good game. I think we as gamers are pretty unfair with hindsight at pointing out what was missed or not polished enough.

I agree the Customisation, RPG stuff, SMART, style etc is all a selling tool to make the game appeal to a wider audience. They had me at “made by Splash Damage” and I suspect others too which is perhaps why we feel a little in the dark with regards to real meaty details.

Just do the contrary of “Veilfailstein multiplayer” and this game will become successful not only for players but for splash damage itself.

If it needs customization, add customization. The best thing you can do it’s add something different from the others, something unique apart from SMART movement system. (but don’t forget to support modding, it worked with etwolf and with quake wars).

You should also make unique balance maps that have a very replayable value as well as new teamwork mechanism. (don’t make it just shoot, hide, camp boom).

Certainly not the only thing though. Getting mods to run on ETQW is a bigger hurdle than on most other games I know.

True, the double-restart for any mod or even a custom map is a pain.

Not to mention all the other issues with stability, accessibility, etc.

Imo Wolfenstein wasn’t so bad. It had horrible graphics,yes, but apart from that the Wolfenstein Promod fixed really much within the first days, and it would have fixed the whole game and make it really fun…
…BUT the game had absolutely horrible lag issues which made it completely unplayable!
QW also always lagged for me :confused: I hope for a good netcode in BRINK, lag ruins the best games :confused:

The standards.
Look at Saints Row 2.

That is basicly what we (or I at least) want this character customization-system to be like.

I don’t know about great because I didn’t play it for very long cause of the lag… but it was definitely not horrible, pretty decent imo
