I’m having a interesting problem with ET as of the last 2 weeks. Everytime i start the game up, it says crash com next to all my pk3 files and it starts me with all default settings, ie 800x600 rez and gamma is dark. I’ve reinstalled ET and repatched it, but with no luck. I can change the options once i get in but they will only stay until i quit the game. If i change the options and simply exit, i will receive no problems the next time i start ET up. If i join a server and exit, the problem resurfaces the next time i play. I’ve talked to some people in my ET circle and i’m not the only one having this problem. Other people with completely different computer hardware are having the same problem. I removed all my custom maps and mods and it is still happening. I’m at my wits end and can’t even find a f**king email for any tech support for Splash Damage to even ask them. If anyone has any ideas or knows how to fix this please let me know.

Yep, old problem, answered many times already (this site does have a search function), and as for …and can’t even find a f**king email for any tech support for Splash Damage… if you’re not happy with the service take it back to the shop you bought it from and ask for a refund.

Splashdamage doesnt need ANY Tech Support because a kind community like us are here…
Simple solution for urself:
-Run game and set all u want and know that is stable enough for playing
-Quit game, create/open “autoexec.cfg” in “etmain” dir
-Open “etmain\profile\profile_name\etconfig.cfg” and copy all lines ending with “unsafe” to “autoexec.cfg”
-Delete “unsafe” mark at the end of each line in “autoexec.cfg”
-Save the files and start game
Autoexec.cfg overrides all settings in etconfig.cfg and will load with correct values even when u get “com_crashed” error in console.
well wtf? i searched this forum for almost an hour and couldn’t find squat about a com_crash error, except for things that had nothing to do with my problem? where were either of those posted?? Either way thanks to all for posting the solutions, i hope to be able to figure it out from here. Sorry for beating a dead horse but i guess i’m not great at searching forums.
PS. Since the game was free off the net, where exactly do i take it back too?,lol
