Web downloads and missing maps

Web download is a very useful way to get server maps fast, but the problem comes when a map is in ET server but not in web server or just when the web server is down.

Is there any way to allow the client download maps from ET server when web download fails?

You can set sv_allowDownload to 1 to allow clients to download from the ET server, but I’m not sure if this web download allways gets priority over this.
The best thing is only to enable it if you’re sure the web download is down, and disable it once the refer works again.

About the maps: simply make sure they are all there on the webspace, or remove them from the server. The ones you don’t play don’t need to be in the server folder.

sv_allowDownload is set to 1 and web download gets priority, but the problem comes if the web server is down, in this situtation client should download maps from ET server, but it doesn’t happens :frowning:

Note the clients need to have enabled cl_allowDownload.

Or you run up against what we at the =GAT= server have been battling for months now… the DNS fails to translate and you get a flood of client xxxx connecting… a few moments later. xxx acking disconnected download mode. Getting a dedicated ip seems to help too. As for the webserver being down, thats what you have friends for, when ours goes down and frequently does (its in denmark) we have our sister CSS clan webserver as a backup.
