Weaponswitch Setting

Is there a cvar you can set to override the auto-weapon switch?

When panzering after firing the panzer I switch to the handy pistol automatically, which is fine. However, after reaching level 4 and getting the SMG, since weaponbank 2 is empty it goes straight to grenade. This results me in hitting weaponbank 3 which takes me back to the panzer and then weaponbank 3 again to get my SMG, for all intents and purposes meaning I’m dead if there’s anyone shooting at me during this massive multi weapon switch.

I’d like to turn off this autoswitch but can’t figure out the proper setting, anyone know of it?

(on a side note: if the devs were so kind as to make a patch to throw the SMG in weaponbank 2 all my problems would be solved :beer: )

cvar? There’s a menu option for it :?

Options -> Game -> Weapons -> ‘Autoswitch’

Don’t tell me you didn’t even look in the OPTIONS MENU? :eek2:

Unless you’re going to set it per-weapon like cg_drawgun, in which case it’s:

cg_noAmmoAutoSwitch

Its fixed in ETPro and Shrub afaik.

I’ve tried no ammoAutoSwitch. It doesn’t switch when I run out of ammo, but it still switches if I fire a panzer.

erm, rather, it doesn’t switch when I run out of ammo, but still switches when I fire a panzer

The switching after you fire your PF is special, because it switches even if you are not out of ammo. So the no ammo setting doesn’t affect it.

For l4 soldier, you can try this:

Then if you press the SMG key after firing, it will take you there instead of to the nade.

Thanks, that’ll definetely help. However, it still doesn’t address the going to grenade after you fire issue. I tried setting it so that after I fire my panzer I immediately select SMG, but for some reason this seems to result in me having NO weapon out at all.

Gutted. Nothing worse than midfirefight then your weapon changes and hangs till you realise it aint changed and you gotta press either weaponprev/next or the weaponslot key and by that time your dead. Tbh, its sometimes things like this make me think /kill is handy as much as i’ve used it in this situation. As I said in a previous post, if they kill me they deserve it… my fault they aint dead first. :smiley:
