Right after I shoot with panzer my weapon switches to pistol, which is fine since that’s my secondary weapon in the begining. However when I reach level 4 soldier in stead of switching to the newly aquired SMG it switches to grenade (after panzer shot) and I have to switch it manually everytime to the SMG. What’s up with this, how do I fix it.

I’m not sure that you can. The problem is that at LVL4 Heavy Weapons you get an SMG, but it goes into slot #3, same as the Panzer, whereas the Pistol was in slot #2. So when you’ve fired the Panzer and auto-switch wants to switch you to something else, it switches you to grenade as (now that slot #2 has gone) it’s the next most powerful weapon you have.
There are threads here discussing it and many are of the opinion that the SMG should be put into slot #2 at LVL4 Heavy Weapons, which would seem sensible and solve the auto-switch problem.
so fix yourself and don’t rely on auto switching, NEVER RELY ON IT. I don’t even use auto reload.
I just press 1 (knife) then wait 1 second, then scrolling down my wheel mouse once. no problems, didn’t even see the knife.
well for me i never scroll for anything…scrolling for a weapon or whatever is just plane lame.
I have a 5 button mouse,i make use outa those 5 buttons differently for each class.
This is my medic mouse config.
bind mouse4 “weaponbank 5”
cg_drawgun 0
bind mouse3 “weaponbank 7”
bind MOUSE5 “weaponbank 1;weaponbank 2;weaponbank 3”
cg_weaponCycleDelay “0”
Notice that my mouse5 button switches weapons.this wont work if auto switching is turned off.And really it dosnt switch weapons,what it does is when your smg is outa ammo it defalts down to the next weapon.
Example.
You just blast through a few guys with your SMG and have no bullets left.you go to revive a guy(mouse4).now you need a gun again(mouse5) wow your empty SMG dosnt pop up you get a side arm,and when it runs outa ammo your knife will be on mouse5.
so 1 button does the work of 3.

Now mouse4 is a sidearm untill level 4 heavy weapons,mouse3 is quick binos and mouse5 is just the panzer/smg
note that cg_weaponcycledelay is back to the default 150 as gaining level 4 heavy weapons with a “0” delay and the 3 weaponbanks didnt work together at all.Also note that panzer is the only class that i play with drawgun on.Vaporizing my self by being to close to something and not knowing i was to close to it made me make this switch.
And yes like i said i have different configs for each class.
So Cyber-Knight you can stick with scrolling for weapons or pressing 1,2,3 i will use my mouse buttons.

I use a similar set-up. Except I use the mouse wheel:
wheel up: knife-pistol-smg
wheel down: needle (air strike canister)
thumb button: grenade
c: health or ammo pack
I also use similar for the other classes (e.g. soldier, up: knife-pistol, down: heavy weapon).
So far though, I’ve yet to be able to set up a config for a level 4 soldier that works even remotely reliably. It’s sad, but I forego the SMG for a pistol as a soldier.
