Weapon shield any good?
I am really liking the weapon shield, more so than the bayonet. The GL is still the best attachment but on certain builds the weapon shield is a huge help.
My son and I tested this. Its impressive how accurate the bullet hits are. The only cover it gives you is exactly what you see. Keeping your left side of your body to the enemy and crouching is key.
It blocks 100% of the damage, but like i said: Its a small area.
Also you will see the bullets hit the glass.

Great! Thanks for the info - since you tested this…
-does the shield protect just the head when ADS? (and the whole head?)
-can you tell how much of the body it covers when aiming from hip?
and obviously this only protects “head on” then, right?
…I can’t believe people are still asking this.
The shield only protects what it physically covers. Nothing more, nothing less.
Also ADS does nothing to the third-person weapon model. No difference.

believe it brother!

The first part is what we (well at least I) have assumed from day 1 - but I cant see what it covers from the FP view…my two primary questions were both related to what is actually covered by the shield - since Achtung was kind enough to test…
The second part, I dont know what this means.

ADS:aiming down sights. when you use the sights, the sheild does not move.
I know what ADS means, lol. It was the part about ADS doing nothing to the 3rd person model, didnt know what that meant.
The only way to really explain it is to get a friend on a private game and see for yourself.
The area covered is what it is; not very big.
There’s no third-person model change when players ADS. I know it sounds crazy but when my friend and I tried it, we both saw the other player’s model stay exactly the same when we both said we were toggling ADS. Again, see for yourself.

oh right. i guess i already knew this, i was taking your comment a bit too literally. (since you said weapon model i assumed you meant you couldnt actually see the shield on the gun)
so basically what this means is that if my opponent is using an AR with a weapons shield, i will see that his gun has a shield, but i wont be able to tell whether he is:
–ADS (and therefore protecting a small region closer to his head)
OR
–hip firing (and therefore protecting a small region more in the chest region)

Exactly. It’s why you always see people running around with pistols in that stiff one-armed position. It’s because the hipfire and ADS third-person models are exactly the same.
I only properly understood that fact after testing the shield.

EDIT: A way to test this by yourself is to open a private game and find an area where you can see your own shadow. ADS and watch it. There’s no difference.
EDIT2: Here’s a quick video I made demonstrating my point. Watch the shadows: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpOb02xZG04
Ok here we made a ****ty video…
Conclusions:
-The hit box is really on the shield.
-No difference in hip or ads firing.
-The shield is right infront of the point where you would want to aim for best spread use.
-but Headshots are possible

Wait…what? So I have no way of knowing if the shield is actually protecting their head? Seriously? WTF?
It does not move! IT DOES NOT MOVE! IT IS ALWAYS BLOCKING YOUR MIDRIF! even when ADS. gettit?
Dramatic much? Assuming you’re correct, the weapon shield is even more useless than I thought.
Ok ill extend this list for every new question now, also rephrasing it
Fact:
-The hit box is really only on the shield.
-No difference in hip or ads firing.
-The shield is right infront of the point where you would want to aim for best spread use.
-but Headshots are possible
-The shield protects you when sighting or hipfiring.
-You cant tell if your enemy is sighting or not.
-The shield only blocks bullets directly on the shield
Hope this sorts out some more misinterpretations
