Look at the choir of guns video, it was pre release, so was the one that included bayonet, look at the gotlung, bottom attachment available. look at it now, no bottom attachment available, now, by doing some brainstorming- i hav deduced that the weapon sheild will be a bottom attachment and most probably for heavy weapons that needs some love.
Weapon sheild-heavy and bottom-Not a question.
****… Now that you say it, I remember seeing an attachment spot for the Gottlung!
Good spotting, Iezza
Interesting. And intriguing at the same time.
So, then technically it would be like a shield mounted in front of the minigun to protect from bullets up front? Now that’d be a weapon worthy for a heavy.
Stuff from prerelease being added in a month late, being touted as big free DLC updated bonus stuff?
I really do hope that the weapon shields have substantial drawbacks on the guns and thus don’t become no-brainers.
I’d like it if the heavies were a bit like tanks. Slow moving, but needing some concerted team effort to take down. Sort of like well used vehicles in ETQW… Or the starbase in netrek for you old fogies out there.
Anyone from SD ever played netrek? What a great game…
Glad someone else noticed this. Doubt they designed, tested and balanced these maps/abilities and attachments in a month while supposedly fixing the game as well
Makes you think, were they going to charge for this crap if the launch wasn’t so bad and why was it left out of the game in the first place?
How would a bottom attachment protect against headshots? Wear the gun as a wig? :B

Holy bleeping moley!!! I played that game for years in the mid 90s. Awesome game, netrek is.
How observant ! At least now we know what will come in future “DLC”. Look at preview videos, check what they wanted to deliver but failed. Add some marketing and your failures become DLC !
To the DLC whiners:
Uh, yeah, that’s how it goes in the wild world of game development. When I worked for EA Sports, the creative and production teams would think of a lot of new things to put into each new game. Of course, time and money are finite resources, so a lot of good ideas get scratched until a later sequel or yearly update, like Madden, etc. That was during the days of Pre-DLC.
Companies now can spend extra time and resources designing EXTRA stuff thanks to the DLC model. If you don’t want that extra stuff, then don’t buy it. Oh wait, right, SD is giving us DLC for free! Wtf is with the whining about DLC then?
On that note: Just because SD had designed a bunch of DLC early on, doesn’t mean they need to give it all away for free. Do you guys bitch like this when you go buy a new car?
“Hey, this basic model car I bought for $20K works alright, even though I did have to bring it in for a couple of maintenance issues and recalls. But, how come you didn’t install the larger engine and better stereo system for free when I bought the car? That’s BS!”
Like the second Heavy machine gun(whith the one slit in the middle to shoot thtough._)

Poor poor analogy.
Just because you’re happy with the current use of cut content as DLC, does not mean others are. The game has little in for starters so it could have been included in the original game, even more obvious when they release it a month later. No one was complaining either about the fact it was free, just the fact it was cut from the game in the first place

But if it was always designed to be DLC, then it wasn’t cut in the first place. Sure, you may have seen an early video with the content in the game, but that may have been for testing purposes.
My analogy was directed at people who always feel like they need to get everything for nothing. The typical DLC whiners always complain about DLC that was designed or created ahead of time. WHY should companies give away DLC for free? It cost those companies time and money to make that extra stuff. If SD stated that the game would be released with all of this extra content included, and it was on the back of the box, then we got home and it was missing, then raise your stink.
Side note: I am sure if Brink had a better start out of the gate and got 10/10 from all the main gaming sites, we’d all be paying for this first DLC package.
Also, think about how many more CoD d-bags would be polluting the game if Brink did get 10/10 scores? Would that be more fun? Trying to play a teamwork based game with a bunch of Rambo sniper solo jagoffs? I am happy that the reviews were mixed. The game is great and most mainstream kiddies didn’t buy the game, except the few that did come in here and whine like bitches.

Back in the days of Quake, Quake2 you would get many of these things for free without making a big fuss about it. Developers used to include such things in patches. And if not developers, you’d have vibrant modding community. Nowadays the devs are afraid to release SDK because they think it will undermine their ability to profit from DLC. Wake me up when the first Brink mod arrives.
Back in the day, a shave and a haircut cost two bits. Bottom lines are bottom lines, usually dealing with profit margins and the sort.
There are people still playing Quake 2 and all with it’s mods. If that’s what you’re looking for, have at it. If you want to play Brink then you have to deal with what it is as a product. Don’t like? Don’t buy. Don’t play. But please feel free to come in here so we can help untangle that knot in your panties.
Not directed at you entirely, jazevec, just all whiners as a whole.

You bought the game with what it had, don’t go whining about it afterwards. Don’t buy stuff you don’t think has enough value for money, that’s a pretty basic piece of advice. And to top it off, you’re also complaining about getting free stuff.
It is ridiculous to be frank.

Wow do any of you read? Not once did I complain about the content being free or ever having to pay for DLC, i’ve bought lots of DLC and will continue too. For the record though no game i’ve purchased before has released cut content as DLC within a release period that I have purchased, so your generalizing statement means nothing to me
Finally, didn’t realise pointing out that cut content being released as DLC within a month of release was a bad thing, stop crying.
