Very true. Definitely a positive for Med-Heavy dudes.
Weapon Discussion
The buffs apply to hand thrown and under slung grenade launcher. They just don’t apply to Lobster/EZ Nade. Give it a shot, especially if like 5 of the enemy are grouped up it is more than fun.
For a while the Carb was my “favorite weapon”, because even though I hate it for having terrible spread/recoil, it was my go-to gun because there just doesn’t seem to be anything better for CQC.
Now though I have a lot more kills and XP per-minute (as far as I’ve guessed) with the Galactic, and even the Maximus. Rokstedi & Gerund seem to be relatively even, but I still can’t get the Rhett or Euston to work for me. Also plenty of Kross love, because it’s reliable.
The loadouts I’ve been using over the past few days are:
Gerund + Galactic
Bulpdaun + Galactic
Mossington + Barnett
Rokstedi + Tampa
Maximus + Galactic
I have to say that at this point the Galactic is now my second favorite SMG, after the Kross. It has great hipfire spread, great ADS accuracy, large magazine capacity, a fairly quick reload speed, and good switch speed despite its size.
The only downside is in raw power. But it’s just so darn reliable all the time that I really don’t mind the relative weakness, especially when buffed by an Engineer.
Maybe you’re already doing this but the AR’s (Euston, Rhett, Gerund in particular) work much better fired in timed bursts (these timings vary btw the weapons). This makes you much more accurate. I’ve been using the Gerund myself a lot more lately though, but I’m fickle.
I haven’t tried Gerund much yet. I’ll have to give it a shot tonight. I use the Rhett with my heavy and a Euston with my Medium Assault Operative.
The gerund is INSANELY accurate, and i mean, crouching without ads youl probably hit the same place 3 times in a row, with ads youl hit the same place 5-7 times in a row. it just dont recoil until about 6 shots, but when it does, god almight, its a stalion, kicking like a prize stalion. accurae but helluva kick, the rhett has most accuracy for spray and pray, as in it shoots better when held down than the others, and the euston is CQB gun;.
My medium Engi uses Gerund (Four-Vent, Grip, Green-eye, Extended Mag) + CARB-9 (Four-Vent, Sling, Adjusted Sights, Duct-Tape). I used to use a Rhett, but I’ve found I prefer the Gerund’s higher accuracy and larger mag. I also just switched over from a Galactic to the CARB. My Medic, also a medium, uses Euston (Down-Vent, Grip, Green-eye, Extended Mag) + Drognav (Up-Vent, COGA, Rapid-Fire). My light Op uses a Bulpdaun (Six-Vent, Grip, Green-eye. Extended Mag) + SEagle (Up-Vent, Holster, Green-eye, Rapid-Fire). My heavy Soldier uses a Maximus (Dual-Vent, Green-eye) + Gerund (Four-Vent, Grip, Green-eye, Extended Mag). I also liked, when my Medic was a light, that same Drognav build with a Hockler (Up-Vent, Holster, Green-Eye, Extended Mag).
As you can probably tell, my playing style is probably a little different from most. I almost always go with accuracy and stability over power (Hence the muzzle brakes on everything). I also ADS an awful lot. I’m not sure how I’d manage without the Green-eye.
I’ve made some changes. My medic now uses a Drognav (Up-Vent, Sling, Snoop-R) + CARB-9 (Four-Vent, Grip, Adjusted Sights, Duct-Tape). The CARB-9 is his secondary, so it can be used for Downed Fire. My soldier’s Gerund now has an UGL instead of the grip. I’ve also started another character, a medium Medic/Op, who’s using a Rockstedi (Down-Vent, Sling, Greeneye) + CARB-9 (Four-Vent, Grip, Adjusted Sights, Duct-Tape).
Gerund is my love <3
Seriously, first 2-3 bullets have pin-point accuracy with zero recoil. You can counter-snipe with ease by equipping it with a foregrip and COGA/Greeneye.
Unfortunately it was the first AR I used, and now I can’t stand the lack of accuracy/stability on either the Rhett or Euston.
It surprises me so much that only a few people use the Euston. To me it felt like the best AR, provided you knew how to use it properly. You need to try it out for a little while, see what kind of bursting will give the best accuracy, and at what distance you can think about hip-firing. Using a underslund GL is also good if you know how to use it, as other ppl said since it explodes on impact its very hard to dodge and quite easy to use efficiently. No need to cook your nade or shoot it with Grenade Shooting.
I tried the Gerund and for some reason didn’t like it this much. It does feel “accurate” in a way, especially when you crounch and you look at the tiny reticule it gives ya, but enemies seem to go down slower compared to the Euston. I haven’t tried the Rhett yet, I’m curious to see how it handles.
For my sidearm its mostly between the Carb9 (since it hasnt been nerfed yet, itd be pretty stupid not to take the best gun of the game) or the Buldpaun, which trades a bit of firepower for accuracy. I hipfire pretty much all the time with these 2 and it works wonders.
The fact that you can use both an AR and an SMG is amazing in my opinion. Its the main reason why I haven’t even tried the light body type online. I can down 2 enemies with my Euston, quickly switch to my Carb9/Buldpaun in the heat of the battle and down 2-3 more enemies. With a sea of bodies all around me, I feel like a GOD lol. Heck, the best about this weapon combo is using Downed Fire. I can’t count how many times I’ve killed the guy who just downed me, or defended the objective successfully due to the element of surprise and the firepower of the Carb9/Buldpaun.
^ I’d be more open to using the Euston if it didn’t burn through ammo so crazy, I don’t dare use it when I’m not a soldier. Insane rate of fire and recoil means it throws half a clip at a single person, I much prefer the stability of the Gerund… two or three bursts to the general chest/neck/head area usually puts them down. It’s just a lot easier to control.
And ew, Carb… it’s powerful and all, but going ADS with that turns into an earthquake simulation after the first bullet. I prefer my Galactic or Kross, for better ammo capacity and ranged capability.

Brilliant!
I love(d) Quake Wars weapons, brilliant fun to use, all of them suited for their role!
Technician, lacerator, spawn host spam (for the spawn creep waves), ammo and health via stroyent. Such a strong skillset required to make it work. I am so close to going back and wreaking Havoc on a ET:QW server…
Damn BRINK, you had a lot to live up to… how did you stumble backwards…

You don’t use ADS with the Carb.

I rock a Kross on most of my builds. I use Euston/Kross combo on my Assualt Operative (Euston works well with a soldier) The Rhett is good for long and close range, but kicks up like a mule.
I used to love the Gerund, but I feel the Rhett is more powerful. Might be I’m just more accurate with it… My aim with the Euston is just terrible…
The only time i have found the Rhett to be better is when i decide i just want to hold the trigger down. Its easier to control than the Euston long range, and stranger than the Gerund when precision doesn’t matter, but its not really best at anything.
Yeah, I tried the Euston pretty solidly lastnight as a Soldier and I’ve definitely warmed up to it. I can see why so many people use it now, but it still lacks that mid-range precision the Gerund just nails perfectly. And using it as anything other than Soldier, it runs dry within a minute of getting out the spawn.
