We need Matchmaking to have Friendly Fire enabled.

Devs agree, but it’s more complicated than it would seem at first: http://forums.warchest.com/showthread.php/44247-Friendly-Fire-in-Matchmaking

(TstarKnight) #3

if they have option to disable it i don’t like FF too many times have come across TKs in my days.

(MissMurder) #4

FF definitely ups the competition quite a bit. I think it would be best to offer a choice in the future

(ch3w0nth1s) #5

That seems like a fair middle ground

(Glot) #6

ofcourse FF should be on for MM!
lets us stop pussying around and get real! =))))

(fraggyb) #7

I would like to see this myself!

(FishStix) #8

Completely agree. Was disappointed to not have it. Pls add FF to competitive matchmaking!

(titaniumCrouton) #9

I don’t mind a choice but I don’t want it to be mandatory personally. I’m not a friend of friendly fire just because, as someone who loves playing CS:GO, I have seen the trollage that can happen…and it’s a headache.

(Zenity) #10

That’s why we need a good anti-griefing system before it’s activated. TKs aren’t a huge problem in CS:GO competitive MM though, at least not enough for most people to want to have it removed. It’s a bit more complicated in DB though, partly because of the spam that can lead to accidental teamkills and partly because killing and reviving a teammates is a valid strategy in some situations.

(Zenity) #11

I do hope it will be mandatory for competitive matchmaking though. Splitting the matchmaking for FF wouldn’t be worth it, so most likely we’d have to play some matches with FF on and some with FF off, which would feel really inconsistent.

Maybe not if you’re in a high enough rank, but for people like me who just flat out suck (still learning v-v) we’ve got a ton of trolls. Of course, I don’t want it removed from CS…it’s an obviously intregal feature. But I have been banned once or twice by assholes who would litterally body block gernades to kill us both/run in front of your gun fire, etc, etc and basically abuse the automated system.

and like you said, considering how DB works…it worries me xP.

(ra.ge) #13

It’s not a simple FPS as CS, where you mostly have just guns. In DB there’s stuff like air strikes, orbital lasers, machine guns, lots of grenades etc. Much more stuff that can lead to accidental team kills. As a comp TF2 player as well, this idea doesn’t appeal to me at all.
Also, friendly fire can cause griefing among the team by simply being able to kill your teammate.

(Eox) #14

This is exactly what you guys should do ! :stuck_out_tongue:

(transferring) #15

Agree completely. The ability to deny the enemies an area while your team can walk through without issue (via explosives) seems bane to true competition.

(avidCow) #16

It’s utterly ridiculous.

(Szakalot) #17

there will always be trolls.

Anti-griefing systems should be in place, but if one of the 5 teammates is keen on spoiling the game for his team, well then - the game will be spoiled, regardless of whatever systems you could imagine.

Present no-teamkill system has just as much toxic potential on delivery objectives, where a troll can pick the objective and run around non-relevant parts of the map. You could actually argue that having FF on would allow you to counter such a troll!

(gloomyRequirement) #18

Add a proper reporting system and I’m all up for friendly fire. I think it’s really stupid to have skyhammer blow the shit out of the corridor whilst you’re walking through all the explosions like nothing ever happened.

(DutchLM) #19

This would make things like skyhammers airstrike useless because it’s just too dangerous for the team…

(avidCow) #20

Hahaha. That’s the point (not the useless part). As it is now with FF off your team can run in and occupy the area being bombed. Retarded.
