smth like Nirvana for ETQW
We need a passworded Brink server for ETQW old tarts
As soon as linux server is out
But tbh, OCB have 4 Brink servers, that can be used as meeting points
Brink Nirvana will also be up as soon as the linux ded is out.
Just noticed the Oh my Brink server (from Oh My Strogg team) today btw, and had some pretty good games there. The Qube server has also been pretty good.
In general, the brink games seems to flow much better when playing with old qw players - go figure! :infiltrator:
Just saw this.
i’ll speak to the guys and see if we can password one for QW players
i tried to play nirvana this sunday but some problem got me kicked twice. however i noticed people still make maps for this game. i played one map enough time to understand it was suited for 3v3 and not 12v12 slots. this game played with small teams is still a good game but lose much of his magic. i guess it can be a lot of work to make maps like the original ones. so i leave one sugestion for people who create maps and keep servers alive:
use original maps but swap teams (gdf / strogg).
looked a good idea when i first thought of it, however, a few problems got into my mind already:
- gdf covers dont have drones to blow volcano core. maybe this obj could be replaced by something like a transport (data disc) from lower room to place under core.
- strogs dont have such thing like mcp vehicle. maybe transport objective can be used here as well to replace the mcps.
- bases from gdf and strogg are very diferent. ok, now the challenge seems impossible.
this is just one idea, hope someone can make some use of it.

Interesting idea, but as you say it can be hard to swap the teams with the current objectives - everything regarding team “ownership” would have to be swapped, and it’s not only the objectives but also all the entities and the related stuff like objective messages (oh my gfd, they’re after the briefcase) and so on.
Perhaps easier, would be to rearrange the objectives, so you run the maps in reverse. Like for area22, start in the hangar and end up in the office and such. That would mainly be scripting work, and a few entity changes on objective numbers and such. But story won’t fit anymore.
Another thing that could be interesting, is to use the official terrain models and megatextures and build new structures and stories on top. This would give you great terrains with a minimal of download for the user. I’ve experimented a bit with this, it’s quite easy to setup a mapping project in sdk using the stock terrains only. But still a lot of work, and you’re somehow tied to the original maps - fex you have to fill in structures in all the terrain holes from the originals. But perhaps a good way to train a bit at least, or work out your own facility structures without messing too much with custom terrain.
