i know these deal with shaders, but to be honest i dont know much about shaders and i dont know much about them. Yes i did do a search on them lol, im just having a hard time understanding it. Does anyone got a simple tutorial or explaination for me?

i know there is a fountian in the map saberpeak which is essentially a mini waterfall and i know the author of that map has made the .map avaible on his site so you could search for that and look at the .map in radiant and try and figure it out.

thats a good idea, i love that map. Do u know his site though, until i get my cable internet back i have a hard time just normally browsing the internet.

also there is some waterfalls in River Styx´s Den of Lions or if it´s in his rs_radars (perhaps both)
so perhaps to contact him is a good plan aswell…

need flat water brush, if you make it all the same texture people can swim up your waterfall :confused:

i looked at saberpeak and it just got me more confused lol, i know this is alittle to much to ask, but can someone just sit down with me and explain all of that stuff in basic newbie terms for me lol

yo Lock Ness Monster , … i have been workin on a waterfall for a while and still cant get it, so if u find out how to do it or get a prefab could u send it to me…
i am really getting frustrated with the waterfall thing

Create a model of a water fall, thats what I would do :).

There’s nothing complicated about it.
First create the 3D geometry for the water. Use a patch for a more natural look or even a model if you want.
Then apply a water shader to it with a nice scrolling parameter. Just look at the water shaders used in any of the previously mentioned maps for some ideas.

heehee, im not trying to disgrace myself, but i dont even know how to make a model of a waterfall to begin with lol. I suck at patching and i never have made a model of something like that, ive only done buildings and shelfs. I did find two moving water textures in my list though, so that could sort of help with the area that leads to the waterfall. Besides that, i dont know how to make moving things at all. Maybe i should drop the waterfall idea for now

Lock Ness Monster, did you download and check out Drakir’s “airport”-map? Axis and allies fight over a gas-tank, if I’m correct.
I cannot remember the exact name. It has a waterfall near allies first spawn.
I know Drakir has released alot of .map files. Maybe this map is available too, complete with the .map and shader files? It’s worth looking into.

thanks for the info Loffy, i hope he has that, ill check into it. I thought of a really good idea for a map and now im sort of putting the main base together right now, i hope this waterfall thing works

i made a waterfall with nice particle effects at the bottom. its in my bunker-hill map for rtcw.
i used a simple patch thats runs down at a stone model. but today i would make a simple model with a scrolling skin on it witch fades out to the right and left and have the particle at the bottom.
of course some more stones would be nice in a little lake where the fall hits the water. :slight_smile:
