Wasted my money.

The issue he’s getting is probably not to do with his power supply since other users with perfectly capable system specs are getting the same error. As I’ve said to those users, we are investigating the issue.

Although I would advise a PSU upgrade in any case. You would probably hit issues when your system hit full load.

Samzon, if you only have a 400w PSU for the GTX 460, you ABSOLUTELY need to get a stronger PSU. That can burn the card out because it won’t have enough power put through to it. Don’t try to run any extremely graphics intensive games unless you get a new one, as this could result in the GFX card itself to quit working. If you bought it from a specific place(which you said you bought premade) and it had that graphics card IN IT when you bought it, call them up and tell them you need a bigger PSU for it, and that they should upgrade the PSU for all the future ones as well. I had that card at one point, but it was a refurb and ended up dying from losing memory( I dunno how). In any case, that card has 2 plugs that go into it to power it, and if the PSU is only 400, it probably wont run it all that well.
Futuremark 3D Mark 11: http://www.futuremark.com/

Download the software, install it, and run it. If it runs through the whole thing without crashing, you’re good.

Furmark: http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/

Download version 1.9.0, install it, and run it. Let this one run for a while. If it runs without crashing, you’re good.
I ran that programm it didn’t crash but my temprature was rizing.

If neither crashed, you may be okay. The rest of your system may be sufficiently low wattage enough that your power supply will be sufficient. Just keep it in mind and if other games cause you issues, you may want to look into purchasing a more powerful power supply. Also, you probably should not expect to be able to add anything else, like an extra internal hard drive to your system without running into power issues.

i got 4.00 GB its kool. But is it unsafe to use my GTX 460 with 400w? will it destroy anything or burn out my graphics card? i really wouldn’t want that seeing though i spent all this money,
Do i need take it out or is it safe to use. I 'm playing League of Legends and Dawn Of War. Hope it won’t harm my GTX

(Samzon18) #46

Is it safe to use my 400 x with my GTX 460? Because i’m currently playing games with it , Dawn OF War and League of Legends, WIll my card blow or destroy something in anyway? i wouldn’t want this because i’ve spent alot on my bits.

(jfunk) #47

Unless you begin experiencing any strange behavior in other games, you’re probably fine.

Just keep in mind that if you do begin to see a pattern of instability in other applications, the power supply may be the issue.

But can i carry on playing League of Legends? Or will it slowly kill my graphics card?

(esomonk) #49

A while back I got a radeon 4850 with a 400W psu. I got the same exact problem as you do. The power supply simply can’t source enough current. Had to upgrade it to 500W for it to work. League of Legends isn’t as taxing on your card as Brink. Do yourself a favor and upgrade the PSU. Pushing your system could damage your components and theres always a chance that that the power supply will degrade and its output will drop. Either way you’ll have to get a new one soon.

(Samzon18) #50

Can i play League of Legends meanwhile?
Or will it damage my PC?

(esomonk) #51

You should since it is not nearly as GPU intensive as Brink. You could lower the settings a bit if you want to feel more comfortable.

(dlux) #52

All this talk about the PSU…
400 watt is on the low side, but it’s perfectly fine if you don’t overclock.

I can’t game with 400 watt thought apperently.
And i want to get Battlefield 3 in Novemeber and it won’t run if i’m correct?
This is same reason why i keep crashing on Brink?

(drftsil8ty) #54

i think at this point a lot of people are think they wasted thier money on this game…

(Jimmy James) #55

Really? Have you ever been Flagshipped? (Life-time membership…)

Go back to Enemy Territory if you want a fun game for free. Otherwise give SD a chance to patch.
Okay, i spent a fortune on my Gaming PC and apperently my problem is my PSU, Its 400 W And i need 450 W?
I spent a ****ing fortune and i can’t even run a game? this is pathetic. !!!1
Don’t sweat it, man. You’re still learning. Just wait until you start viewing your computer as a hobby. That’s when the real expense starts.

this game should have not been released like this, give SD a chance…they had two years. Its sad how they just released the game anyways knowing it had problems.

(keefy) #58

Wont it be the other way around, the card trying to use more power than the PSU can handle so the power supply goes pop?

(Jimmy James) #59

I will agree that certain companies are known for releasing games that require minimal, if any, patching (id and Blizzard come to mind) but those are few and far between.

Anyway, I think that Splash Damage’s reputation should at least be considered. Their first game, Enemy Territory (free), was amazing. Quake Wars still rocks my socks and now everyone is dumping on SD because their new game needs some tweaking. Give them a chance, SD has always been active in supporting their products.
