Wake Waves

I’m working on a Ship map for Enemy Territory. I want there to be a wake behind the boat. You know, the V shape wave the boat makes while moving. I’m stumped on how to do this with shaders. I was wondering if someone had any ideas. I’ve tried particle studio, doesn’t seem to work for me. I have a texture, just dont know how to make the shader for it.

Check out the map called “Operation Chariot” - there is a waterboat which you can “turn on”, it leaves a wake behind it while its on the water.

Sort of new to ET, Umm, the water plane has something out the back, if you call them wakes. LOL. Thank you for the information, although I couldn’t get the water boat turned on. Or even know where the water boat is. LOL.

there is no water boat in the map, its a water plane.

The plane needs a maximum of three “tries” to get it started, with a 33% chance of it starting on the first try, 66% on the second try and 100% on the third.

The plane is located to the north of the first allied spawn, near the submarine.

Wow, I took a look at that Ship map… that skybox is sweet. It really has a lot of atmosphere .
The other projects you worked on are pretty nice too, great job.

Thank you sir, If I only knew what I was doing. Then imagine what the maps would look like LOL.

I noticed you were working on a castle map. I’m sort of working on a funmap of a castle. Pay no mind to the textures, their just temporary.

just in case - you can convert COD4.map to readable format in ET radiant.

Well the advantage of my castle is that no one knows how it looks and - ah crap … I forgot I gave links to the real castle in another topic -_-’ :smiley: -

Anyhow, Good luck with creating that Fun Castle Map .

@ Indyjones: Is it also possible to convert CoD (1) maps to ET Radiant maps?

i’d need to see .map structure, but yeah, probably yes (not decompiling).

stealth - i wasn’t sure if people will be interested in such thing :smiley: COD4 buildings are so detailed.


this is a construction yard from backlot in ET radiant. it has as far i remember over 2400 brushes… just this building. whole italy has almost 9000.

about cod1 & cod2 map source files… if radiant can’t eat them directly… I would try with quark…

Tottaly agreed.

It is not nice to rip off other peoples work and claim at yours, even if you credit the people. Take a picture of something, make something similar and add some twists then sure it is great, but just dont make a fast copy paste of a map, retexture it.

Sorry, but this just had to be said.

I’d go for even more strict lining. It’s not nice to directly copy looks, scenes, styles, layouts or anything from another map. If you are in desperate need for a layout, get out and walk all over your hometown. Or then google for some pics to get you inspired. Also taking inspire from other maps is ok, but not directly copying (and I don’t talk about decompiling and copypasting).

did i claim it as mine? for me it is a fun to run something wich wasn’t designed for (in that case - cs:s map on q3 engine). period. no need to spam here.

I want to say with it, that it is nice summarized with that… I think over this can be discussed allot, but it ends just in that… I think it doesnt matter what you do copy - if its a copy from reality or from another map, in the end it matters only if there is something new in it - something creative… (actually human brain is almost unable to make something absolutely new… all is just a synthesis of what it knows allready… )
well that is my opinion - I actually dont want to step on any feets… but I surely did allready… sorry…
