Wake Island - Unofficial Mega HotFix

Hi!

As a megatexture lover i was messing with Wake Island megatexture files.

I made a 1 mega pk4 file that is supposed to be a hotfix to improve visual of megatexture + atmos on Wake Island.

My idea is to use it on today Nirvana event, if Chris (map releaser) and Scrupus (server admin) agreed with that.

Tweaks:

  • Lowered atmos postprocessing brightness from 129% to 100%.
  • Lowered Sun Color Saturation (yeloow) from 176 (range from 0 to 255) to 100.
  • Lowered sun from 48 degree to 35 degree, to better match sun flare and, mainly, cause less shine.
  • New atmos has the name “wake_temp”.
  • Changed “atmosphere” entity, on .entities file, to use “wake_temp” atmos instead of “island_final”. This was needed to avoid the change of “island_final” atmos since its a retail atmos.
  • Fixed detail texture on alpha channel missing due to image storage on internet image site (sorry Chris).
  • Changed the “granular/dirt” sand detail to “waves/dunes” sand detail.

That’s sounds and looks great! Thanks for these tweaks Don. But Chris of course has the last word.

That last screenshot reminded me totally the Oasis and Battery feel from W:ET…
