So vampires could be able to morph into a different model? One problem on what I can think of right now is that all those models have to be preloaded. Unlike Half-life’s, the W:ET models are somewhat larger to load, that would proberly mean you can’t have more than 50 extra models.
But hey, I haven’t tested it, so it might aswell be possible.

If that half-life mod’s sourcecode was released, and one could convert it to ET with one button, then yes it would be lame.
However I have seen certain movies where vampires could morph into certain things, so then it wouldn’t be a copy of a mod but just an extra feature based on a concept.

However, I’m unsure if we would be adding this, cause I can’t think of anyone would like to be a plant ingame.

well as your avatar so nicely shows it, vampires can also change into bats…

maybe if used well people could quickly morph into bats to get through windows easier?
or fly around like a spectator, but bats are easier to kill…

And don’t forget that it’s not easy to create a flying system, since bats are affected by gravity(unlike specs)

I’d imagine if you allowed multiple jumping, so players have to hit space for each flap, you’d have a pretty good flying effect that would be pretty easy to code.

No actually that multiple jumping is a great idea. It would be so cool and quite easy to implement I think. If you’d take the double jump code from jaymod or such, edit it, and you’d need to have if mode flying=1 allow that.

Tho it might be trouble some and possible to result crash. If you’d put there a little delay on each possible press of the jump button (so that there won’t come “excess flood”) and make the flight quite reasonable for each “flap”.

Tho I don’t know if you can reduce the gravity for individuals very easily to make it even cooler. Does idtech3 (source code free under gpl) even have possibility to give different gravity for individuals?

The idea is good, and should be worked out quite painless if we ignore the gravity. Thumbs up! :stroggbanana: Btw, when you’re a bat you should be able to only bit (make it hard tho) which would result in something rly bad.

I’m using a doublejump function for the normal vampires now, so I can easily implent that.
It it possible to change the gravity individualy, but ignoring the gravity wouldn’t be a good idea.

Just join a game, be spectator, and press jump, you will be pushed up, but won’t be pushed down again.

Anyway, I think it’s possible, but there’s still alot of things to figure out. I might use the bird from Natural Selection(hl) as a reference.

Well you could have lower gravity anyway. Nothing wrong with the normal gravity, except you’d drop down quite unrealisticly fast. But as you know, double jumping is “cool flying”. If you’d cut 2/3 of the “jump” height, and keep the gravity. Player would be able to nicely keep their self in air. The problem tho is that you can’t control yourself much at the air. :frowning: So it would be more like hyper jump flying. Still would be quite nice, and maybe worth trying? It shouldn’t be too hard to implement anyway. Btw as they are vampire-bats, who really knows how they fly? :o

Edit. Now that I remember, I’ve been “flying” with low gravity. The control is good enough I suppose.

If we are going to implent it, I will use the mouse to help you change directions(instead of looking, you would be controlling it’s yaw and pitch as in moving).

Well I have some bad news, since a long time I tried to play ET again, just for fun.
But I’m affraid the ET communitie has destroyed itself.
There are no normal servers anymore.
Every server is either filled with bots or it is “no objective”.
To me ET is dead.

The things that made ET fun are gone, killing to get something, not just for the killing.
And killing some other people to get there, not some stupig bots. =/

So I think i’ll just return to Urban Terror and give my kill there.

Ofcourse, if you need help with the mod, i can still do that.

depends where who play our server is still always busy or full and we never added bots on it
and i am not alone to have a busy server

ET is still not dead :slight_smile: There are lots of servers that have players on it and no bots.

I will continue this project regardless if people think ET is dead.

I’ve attached a socalled ‘tech tree’, which originally comes from Natural Selection. This tech tree shows you the abilities you can choose when you reach a certain level as a vampire. Obviously there has to be added more features, I was wondering if anyone has ideas on this one.

Atleast I would like to create a menu/ xp system inspired by the one NS is using.
