w:et usk rating germany

hi all,

to explain the situation. There are ratings for games all over the world e.g. in EU there mostly PEGI is used to rate games 16+ 18+ etc. Though in Germany we have the USK as some may know which is a special rating for germany only.
Due to the fact that W:ET has never been rated by the USK it is automatically rated 18+. This means for lan events and similar ET can only be offered for 18+ players which is pretty bad.
I thought about this when I played with the idea of probably hosting some kind of lan event in the later future featuring W:ET.

So as I know that some people already tried to get it rated by USK do you think SD or ID / Activision could make the step to get it rated even after such a long time? Or will they simply dont care :<

you can force blood off in ETPro (not sure about ETmain), afaik that’s all that’s necessary for under 18 LAN events

nail the problem in germany is that every game with no usk rating is 18+, wether you can turn blood of or not.

and public lans have to have an age controll with the highest ratet game that is played, therefore every public llan with w:et is 18+

I have mailed the USK, and they told me, W:ET does not fall under the JuSchG (Jugendschutzgesetzes), so it does not concern the USK.
As it is a online only game (well in the original version) and only available for download.

They told me for the internet it concerns Jugendmedienschutz-Staatsvertrag (JMStV). So I would have to ask at Jungendschutz.net.
Well I was more curious then anything else… I suggest you ask there yourself … lol.
As I wondered how can we let them test a game which is not tested. and that was the answer I got for W:ET.

In other words there does not exist any USK rating for W:ET. Maybe another group in germany has definitions for it - dunno.

though USK is the only rating that counts in germany =)
i’m not sure whether it is rated by PEGI but that would not count anyway… will try my best then
