W:ET MG Nest and Mobile-MG42 known bug?

I’m usually savvy enough to figure things out by myself but this problem is beating me and I have searched here and elsewhere on the internet and have come up empty handed …

Some background :-

I have a fairly heafty ET install with lots of mods nearing 2.5GB and some moderate configs files inculding binds and toggles but nothing I beileve related to the problem that is annoying me and for the most part, my game functions perfectly, probibly even better than anybodies and I have quite a good system/mouse etc …

It’s very hard to describe this problem in full and sorry that I dont have a demo, I could make one if really needed but I’m sure descriptions will be recongnised by people known to have experineced it …

In game play and mouse tracking is realy great and smooth, I feel really comforitable with it and performane is really good but I’ll break the problem into “Slight Annoyance” and “Serious Problem” …

Slight Annoyance :- Local Client / Remote Server (Any Mod)

Game functions perfectly, Mobile MG42 functions perfectly however on the very very rare occation I activae a fixed MG Nest the MG will either be locked all the way left or all the way right not allowing movment in any direction … I though this was like just one of those bugs which do happen from time to time so dont worry about it …

“Serious Problem” Local Client / Local Server (ETmain, JAYmod, etc …)

Recently I configured my own jaymod server just for practice but I’ve notied the same problem on etmain etc …

Symthoms :-

Mobile MG42 : After activating alternate fire to put in onto the stand I can aim up and down perfecrly but can not aim left or right, it continiously snaps back to the center in a jerky motion …

MG Nest : Gun is either stuck left, center, or right and cannot be aimed in any direction, just snaps back to that position …

Tank mounted MG or 30Cal : When I mount the tank everything seems fine until I actually turn, if I turn 90 degrees left a second later I’ll rotate back about 70 percent and visa versa …

Lean : It seems the lean is effect too, lean is jerky and looks like its snaping back but it eventually leans all the way either left for right …

Conclusion : I’m totally stumped, I know in my own mind I’d think its a mouse capture issue however playing with clinet only doesnt seem to be affected and my mouse, drivers, configs seem to work a treat, furthur to that I helped a freind set up his server and he’s using all completely different hardware from me and he is also experiencing the MG’s locking up …

Any help?

Isn’t the ability to rotate while prone gimped in some mods? At least there’s a server option to gimp it, AFAIK. I almost never touch anything but ETPro, but I seem to recall a “WTF” moment while playing either Jaymod or ETPub, before realizing it was likely intentional. Your problem sounds like the buggy results of this “feature.”

Perhaps Jaybird (creator of Jaymod) will see this thread and can confirm or deny this.

Thanks for your reply, I’ll do some testing and I think you may be right …

Some more observations :-

It also causes drag slowing down strafe jumping on some maps depending on the surface texture … when you land it seems as if your halted for a split second interupting your movement …

I just there now also noticed while connected to a remote server and exec’ing my autoexec.cfg manualy all the symtoms appeared instantly and dissapread when the server loaded nextmap.

I do have some tweaks including pmove_fixed in my configs and I think I run pmove_fixed 1 on my server so I will take a look and see results …

If it is pmoved_fixed then I am very disapointed at some of the guides on the internet, none of which indicated these odd side effects …

pmove_fixed is very broken in etmain, and still somewhat broken in etpro.

Thanks also for your help :slight_smile: … It certainly is broken … 2 minuets of testing and you hit the nail on the head, now everything is running fine on my server :slight_smile:
