W:ET maps from building blocks

(nUllSkillZ) #1

Hi,

a few days ago I have had the idea to build the 6 stock W:ET maps from building blocks (“LEGO”).

The maps have sizes of 7.936 to 14.336 units.

64 units equal 1.7 meters (unit @ quakewiki).
That’s around 1 unit = 1 inch = 2.54 cm.

So the maps are between 205 meters to 364 meters (?) wide.
With a scale of 1:125 (1 meter -> width of a 1x1 brick) these would be 1.61 to 2.91 meters.
That would result in ca. 200 1x1 bricks wide to ca. 364 1x1 bricks wide building block map.

Other scales:

  • Minifig ca. 1:36:
    5.60 meters to 10.11 meters = ca. 700 1x1 bricks to ca. 1.264 1x1 bricks

I’ve found two Blender scripts that can import Quake BSP and MAP into Blender:

I couldn’t import goldrush.map though.

The quake E1M1 MAP and BSP was imported.

I’ve also found a tool for Blender:
Legolizer

Not sure about his tool.
It costs 20$.
