VPU recover issue?

ive been having an interesting issue lately. basically, while playing ET, my comp will freeze for around 5-10 secs, then will just unfreeze and go back to normal. with all the colour go all dodge. and then i exit ET ofcourse and i checked my color through right clicking on desktop and and it changed to medium (16 bit) when i had it on high (32) bit automatically. also it changes all my settings in my advanced area of my graphics drivers.
i reckon it has something t odo with VPU recover because when i have it on, it freezes for 5 secs, then goes all fuxored, but doesnt reboot. but when i have it off, my comp will just restart on its own.
i was thinking maybe there is an issue with it, or a setting with it, or even better, what is actaully triggering this VPU recover thing?
i havnt touched my config or any scripts. im running 9800xt with 5.6 cats.

any ideas?

It’s called Punkbuster. A recent update screwed with some peoples’ systems. The latest one should remedy most of it, however. Just be glad you weren’t one of the lucky few who had their entire system freeze without a recover heh.

all these high-tech programs and such… what ever happened to the simple games that always worked… time for me to load up dosbox and play some wing commander, or Decent, ah no pb to ruin my gaming there…

Withoud pb a lot of games would be cheaters nests, luckily ET is "open source’ so mods like etro can be made which have better anti cheat then PB has…
