Voices (Nice post :) )

(=MLK=FOO) #1

At first I was pissed about the voices but they are kinda growing on me. I dont really mind them to much any more. Is this happening to any of you?

(highboy) #2

No :moo:

(=MLK=FOO) #3

I Did not say I was starting to like em  just dont mind them as much. Given a choice I would rather have the gameplay tweaked.

(Vengeance) #4

I am starting to like the voices

voices sux0rs for me tbh… I prefer the amusing “yawohl”'s and “dizarm zee dynamite” from wolf.

besides I need the enjoyment of sp4mming;

“I’m a loytnant”
“I’m a loytnant”
“I’m a loytnant”
“I’m a loytnant”
“I’m a loytnant”
“I’m a loytnant”
“I’m a loytnant”

The voice chats we are currently enduring :banghead:, while playing the ET test, are just a clever - and cruel  - joke, being played on us by the SD staff… at least I hope so, anyway.

(Ifurita) #7

you know, I’ve just gotten used to them, with the exception of the allied “medic”

Which still sounds like he’s asking for stamps, and not a life saving medic

(Maynard) #8

no, they still suck :eek2:

(SCDS_reyalP) #9

Honestly, in the heat of battle I don’t notice the voices much. It is the communication that matters. They could be donald duck and mickey mouse for all I care… Heck, they already have Elmer Fudd

And the Axis Covert-Ops is Arnie!

The only one that truly irritates me is the Axis Medic squeal. It gets very annoying. very quickly. I hope, along with Bootsauce, that they are merely a sick joke on SDs part and that they’ll be fixed in the final release. I also think using the RTCW voices would ease the transition from RTCW to E.T. for current RTCW players. The current ridiculous voices are just giving RTCW diehards another reason not to try E.T.

(|X|Avenger) #11

I’m getting used to the voices, with the exception of the bland and emotionless ‘medic’ cry. Perhaps SD could not for some reason use the voices from RTCW, for example, maybe the contract with the voice talent included a clause whereby the RTCW developers agreed to only use those voices with RTCW. The developers of RTCW may have done this just to avoid paying more for the voices in RTCW.

What I don’t like is that the voices are cut if there’s another sound. Say that you jump while someone is saying Meeedic! When you land the sound of the landing cuts off the “Meeedic!” Same thing if you say something while someone else is saying something. Actually I use it to filter out all the Meeedic spam by jumping, but sometimes you DO want to hear what’s being said, and then it’s kind of irritating. This is something that never happened in RTCW.

Never been one to hotkey voices in RTCW - I’m totally fluent in the keyboard voices menus, Y43 - Team Thanks, Y44 - Team You’re Welcome etc. - it’ll take some time to get the new layout into my system, but I’m getting there - I keep saying “Great Shot” when I really want to say “Sorry” a lot though, LOL

Btw, the allies “Thanks a lot, pal!” sounds extremely ironic - best used after being TK’d. :stuck_out_tongue:

And yeah, the voices have grown on me too :stuck_out_tongue: Isn’t that Weerd.

The RTCW “oops” - “heh heh” and “YAWOHL” is the most spamm0rd by me

(josh) #14

I miss those ones too:(
Especially the, pronounced with considerable feeling, “Jawohl!!!”

The Axis seem to have lost their piss-taking, german accented, feedback.

On topic;
I seem to be accepting the new sounds (sort of), don’t really notice them in the heat of the battle, maybe thats the problem? The blandness?
Anyway the “roger-that” is nice. Also the (Axis) “The Enemy is weak” I like.

Others will never have the rtcw feeling I enjoyed; i.e. “I need backup”: like you’re noting something to yourself for a later date… The urgency and emotion in most of the voices are gone. Irony seems to have got in to a lot of the team-chats (as shrOOms comments).

The rest average on camp too crap (sry SD).

Maybe just one thing: The germanys saying ‘Willkommen’ instead of ‘Bitte’ or ‘Gern geschehen’ really makes me laugh every time I hear it

It is as if the allies would say ‘Hello’ instead of ‘You’re welcome’ :bump:

(SmokeyTarget) #16

I whole heartedly agree with [DP]c0sm1c, “I’m a loytnant” will be sorely missed. But once we get the “g_annoyingcryofmedicevery5seconds” variable introduced and turned off, I think we will start to get over it.

“I’m a loytnant”
“I’m a loytnant”
“I’m a loytnant”
“I’m a loytnant”
“I’m a loytnant”

(Just for posterity)
