Video card chart (using Q4 as example comparison)

(EB) #1

Curious about how your card stands amongst the rest ?..

Most, if not all of the cards were on a (Intel Pentium D 840 (3.2 GHz)) with 1 gb ram or more.
[Remember to look at each of the system specifics when comparing. ]

nice find! ETQW, here we come!

(Ragnar_40k) #3

Mmh, it doesn’t list my GeForce 2!?

(kamikazee) #4

I know the feeling, my Gefore 256 is not listed either. Ok, it’s old. But it runs W:ET.

(ParanoiD) #5

Aw, where is my Diamond Viper V550 16MB with nVidia TNT chip. Even that ran W:ET

Ok ok, ran is a big word, but it was w:et running at 8 fps max!

(Schizma) #6

w00t 60 fps is good enough for me!

Z50A

(Zyklon) #7

Where’s my FX5600 card? Dang :<

(Sick Boy) #8

heh, i “ran” the beta of ET on a Viper 550 as well

(nUllSkillZ) #9

Very good find.
Just wonder what the FPS are (min / max / average).
Would be good to know what minimum FPS one get with the cards.

(Graham) #10

My GeForce 2 is going to crash and burn when that comes out. It barely managed to run Quake 4.

(Nail) #11

hmm, I may have to upgrade from my FX5700, but it would be nice if opengl updated to shader 4 and unified architecture like dx10, I want to switch to Linux not Vista for gaming

(Ragnar_40k) #12

I don’t want to upgrade. Today’s graphics card have no support for those 3D-shutter glasses! :moo:

(Joe999) #13

have you tried em yet? i’ve been thinking about buying some, but aren’t so sure yet if they’re worth it:

(Ragnar_40k) #14

They can be fun, but in normal game play they a little bit annoying (weight and size). Additonally your monitor should run at least at 160Hz to avoid flicker (and most LCDs are to slow to use such glasses).

(Joe999) #15

i would only use them for 3d movies. the 160hz are new to me, so in that case i won’t get em

(Ragnar_40k) #16

Shutter glasses actually half the refresh rate of your monitor. So when it runs at 160Hz you will get 80Hz in 3D. When it runs at, lets say, 100Hz this gets halfed to 50Hz, which problalby will give you headaches and nausea.

(kamikazee) #17

I have these on my Geforce card and quite frankly I didn’t use them for years.

(ouroboro) #18

Yeah. I don’t care if a card can do 1000 fps. If it ever drops below 60, it blows. Double that would be better. But I’m guessing ET:QW will have the same nauseating 60 fps cap as Q4, so… yeah. I agree.
