Vehicle Timers.

How are the vehicle timers going to work? Will it be a preset thing for each map or can the server admin set it. It would be sweet if the server admin could set it, then you could just turn up the timer to a point where the vehicles will never spawn, and vwala,a map with no vehicles. I know in BF2 you had to make another map if you wanted a vehicle less map. If you did it with timers, the Server Admins could change the gameplay of hte map with just the push of a button.

Why for art tho have no vehicles?

Right now you can just set g_disablevehiclespawns. That’s likely to stay in the game, so if you really want to play without vehicles you can set that to 1.

i think i’ve seen a strogg destroy a strogg hornet in one of the gameplay vidz. are the vehicles destructible by your own teammates? i mean it would make sense in terms of teamplay and teamdamage. i’m just asking because in ET eg the axis CO couldn’t destroy the fuel dump defenses or the allies eg couldn’t throw an effective nade at the tank when the tank bug occurred

If friendly fire is ON (or add a specific cvar), I think one should be able to destroy everything, from its team vehicles to the objective he was supposed to defend.
I don’t know why anybody would do harakiri but, it’s just more… uhm, realistic.

Honestly, that’s one of the best pieces of news I’ve heard. As much as I think the vehicles will be interesting and fun, I can’t help but feel that fan-made maps will lack the balance necessary to have vehicles. Plus, it might be fun to play QW with nothing but infantry sometimes too. Thanks for putting in something so simple that can change the game so much. It’s great to have options like that.

PS: You’re keeping g_maxlives too, right? Please say yes.

I couldn’t see this game being much fun without vehicles, you’d have an anti tank class running around using a rocket launcher like a noob tube against infantry fo one, and the maps would be far too big to be fun on foot imo. Would probably end up playing like a dumbed down version of quake 3 or something with no vehicles =/

The thing is that you’d get huge maps compared to W:ET ones.

and the maps would be far too big to be fun on foot imo

the maps are made into smaller pats and the spawn points are mobile on the front line so i doubt your gona have problems with that. the gameplay vis also show that the action is largely infintary with vehicales added sparingly rather then to totaly overpower the entire map like in bf. so i think you should get some pretty spweet games with only infintary and objective esential drivables

Wils, thats really good news. I know I am excited and can’t wait to use some vehicles, but there will be times when I want to fight infantry only…

I do wonder if you could steal enemy vehicles, perhaps you would have to hack it first?
