Vassili the poor bastard

(zealousHumdinger) #1

The villian in the DB saga, the antimerc, always the wrong man at the place. This guy gets so much hate in pubs I feel sorry for him. The situation is so haphazardly horrendous that the moment you pick the guy, your own team starts a kick vote against you. Legit.

I can fool around with phantom contributing absolutely nothing to the ohb-jek-tiv just go on a joyride with the katana killing whatever I find nobody has a problem with that, but the moment you hold that zoom rifle, you’re an outcast, a thug hell bent on being hated by everyone and everything.

Damn Vassili what has become of you. You know you are good in many situations. If only they knew. RIP

(KorpKyuuSama) #2

I vote kick vassilis. But only if we already have one or he is dead last in the score board.

(Paradoxically) #3

auto-sniper or kick

(Mrarauzz) #4

This is why I always vote no unless given a good reason. Someone is trying to practice… Let them. It’s just a game who cares if you lose

(Weefie123) #5

I like vassilis, but when we have like 3, you start to feel the loss of a medic or engineer on your team. I will say I like good vassilis who put their heartbeat sensors in good locations, I cant tell you the amout of kills and saves I got when I knew there was somebody around the corner or about to jump me.

I don’t like to vote kick in general, but if its just downright stupid like hes trying to snipe with the machine pistol or trying to be a front-line merc, it really sucks.

Bad teamates, however will always get kicked, my team once vote kicked an aura who was high enough at a level where he should have known to pick people up but just walked by you or stood there waiting for an enemy when they could pick you up or be of use to the team. If you saw it, you would have kicked her.

I’ve been playing Vassili a bit lately.
I’m not good.
It’s just fun.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

(FalC_16) #7

I can’t think of a way how to make him more ob-jeck-tiv-ez focused…I think there should be a way how to make him more of a team player…even his gadget sucks balls…you just toss it away and wait for the spots… I think adding an SMG making him true recon would put him behind the enemy lines instead of behind the friendly line^^

(Rjsto) #8

I don’t give a crud if the rest of my team is Vassilis. At least I don’t feel bad about losing!

Played with 3 Vassili’s today in 6v6, attacking side.
It’s not good.

I won’t vote kick a good Vassili, but then again, most Vassili players don’t fit that criteria.

(MarsRover) #11

If I had a dollar every time I saw match end screen that has a lvl <7 Vassili in the last place, and another one 1 or 2 positions higher, I’d have more Arty cobalts than Sniff.

Still, I stay quiet unless we have 3 Vassilis that are useless. Then I politely ask in chat for someone to change to a different merc. If they don’t I either leave or give myself some goals other than winning. I play DB to have fun, not to frustrate myself with trying to win severely shorthanded.

I don’t mind someone being bad. I don’t mind someone learning a new merc. The problem with Vassili is that he is such a magnet for new players - only 30k to show everyone how uber-pro marksman I am. A bad assault at least will be a meatshield. A bad Vassili is less useful than an empty slot.

I’m not asking for any merc limits on servers or level gating mercs. I just want one simple change - rise his price to 50k. If you want to balance things out then change Fragger or one of the engineers to 30k instead.

(watsyurdeal) #12

Honestly Vasilli isn’t too bad, his motion sensor is still pretty nice. But it’d be nicer if he could have a Dreiss or Grandeur.

(SteelMailbox) #13

He is a good merc. But he requires skill which a lot of people don’t have. If you want to play Vassili atleast throw you heartbeat sensor FFS.

(Weefie123) #14

Vassili is supposed to be the merc that has all sniper rifles, Grandeur is a battle rifleas said in the redeye merc role call and its kinda redeye’s signature weapon. The dreiss AR is an AR or assault rifle like the M4A1 or the burst-fire rifles. Vassili is meant for long range support, Grandeur is most effective and long-medium or just medium and is meant for more assault playstyles, like most other non-ability weapons. Vassili has less health then most other mercs excluding medics and mercs with more fast-paced playstyles and better CQC weaponry. he isn’t meant to be on the front lines, machine pistols and revolver are last resort if a long-range option isn’t viable. I wouldn’t want to encourage aggresive vassilis as its a bad way to use his ability, mercs are centered around their ability and should always use playstyles surrounding that.

(Amerika) #15

The biggest mistake most Vassili players make is being stagnant. They don’t move around, they don’t push, they don’t use that mp400. He’s pretty good at being mobile and has a lot of killing potential if you play it correctly. It’s the Vassili’s that simply sit in one spot and don’t know you can jump and shoot the rifle with accuracy or just want to sit and be a “cold hearted sniper” that suck up a spot on the server and draws mass ire.

A player using Vassili that is pushing and trying to make plays for their team is just as valuable as anybody else. But due to him being a recon sniper merc people just assume he is supposed to sit in one place and take pot shots. It would be nice if there was a quick “how to” video for each merc that you could play from within the game.

(DMaster2) #16

Whoever start a vote kick (or vote yes) a person in pubs only because he play vassili that person has serious IQ deficiencies.

(doxjq) #17

He does get a lot of hate but it really depends. If the game has been going for 6-7 minutes and you and other team mates are on 7000-8000 score while the Vasilli on your team is sitting on 600-800 score not throwing his nade and missing all his shots with a 1/15 K/D, then yeah it’s frustrating and understandable people want to kick him.

What’s even worse is like @MarsRover said, when you have fricken 2-3 Vasilli’s who have literally no clue what the hell they are doing. I swear Vasilli is like the moth to a flame combo for noobs on Dirty Bomb. Probably just wanting to 420blazeithowdoIquickscopeguys. LIke seriously. On Bridge for instance, and you’re attacking, and you have 3 snipers on your team sitting back on your side of the spawn. Like what the actual hell. How dumb can some people be. They’re not even in a position to get kills nevermind back up their team mates or help protect their team mates while they are trying to do work on the EV.

It’s just situational, but 90% of the time there is too much plebbery involved with Vasilli, so he’s generally kicked if the guy using him is a total tard.

I personally just feel like he doesn’t have enough health or something. The snipers feel like they have weird rego to me aswell tbh. I take out more Vasillis with Sparks than I do enemies when I an Vasilli. Maybe it’s just me but I can’t aim the sniper in Dirty Bomb to save myself. His heartbeat sensor is handy if thrown in proper locations though.

(XavienX) #18

I main Vassilis and I score pretty high in most games dropping 30+ kills per objective game that lasts pretty long. I hate people who immediately looks me down and say that we don’t need a Vassili. But at the same time I love it. It gives me a challenge. I go tryhard and topscore everyone and actually help my team with heartbeat sensors then they stfu.

The other team suspects me of being a Vassili idiot (prob not sometimes since I’m lvl 18) so I’m able to bodyshot them from a distance and run up to them and jumpshot the 2nd time and take them out. Because people think Vassili players are idiots, they think I’m hacking which annoys me (and flatters me).

It’s just these noobs that give a stereotype honestly but people should never judge a person before they even played in-game with them yet.

Vasilli has plenty of Health, he just lacks a reason to stick close to the team when his weapon is built for long range.

He needs the Dreiss or Grandeur for this exact reason, and @adroitYouth the Grandeur is considered a Sniper Rifle, even in the Red Eye role call.

@Watsyurdeal thats where the pdp comes in, its pretty viable in closer ranges.
