V6 Spamming

(Riftgarde) #1

When it starts to say the spam message and you can no longer say “I’m a covert ops!” Does the blue exclaimation point still appear?

(Rippin Kitten) #2

Nope. The message has to be broadcasted for your icon to show up. Each icon says up for a decent amount of time, so if you’re that worried about being tked while a covert ops you can space them out and be fine.

Of course, avoiding your teammates while in disguise is always a good idea too.

open the door so your engineer can sneak through is even a better idea

(Med/FldOp) Perhaps v6 spamming is an appropriate response to v21 or v22 spamming…

(Pirate_X) #5

A more appropriate response to v21 or v22 spamming is either “No” or “Command Declined”

That gets 'em right pissed.

(Rippin Kitten) #7

Oh man, no reason to take a bad situation (voice spamming for ammo) and making it worse (voice spamming function). If someone’s calling for something and they’re not actively seeking it themselves, they can wait all day for as long as I’m concerned. =)

Although there’s nothing like following a medic halfway across the map yelling “need a medic”, only to have him pay absolutely no attention.

Thank god for /kill

(Ragnar_40k) #9

I hate it when they spam v21 and when I get to them (usually after a fierce firefight) they tap “Because the respawn timer was so close to the next respawn and then I always tap”.
Or I drop medpacks in a secure place near a wounded teammate and say v6, but they run off (e.g. for respawn killing on Railgun), then they get shot (near Axis spawn) and then they whine for a medic (5 meters away from Axis spawn).

It would be good if we could mute people without voting.

(Miles Teg) #11

V6 is a useful response to a call for health or ammo if you’re standing next to the person but they seem intent on running away from you. :bash:

And I think that v21 or v22 (though preferably not spammed) is reasonable if the person is using an MG-42, for example.

(skinner) #12

so is shooting their foot

(funkPig) #13

I agree if this is a medic or ctv ops etc, but for a mg42 that is defending a position it is in everyones best interest to feed them ammo. For example, I usually go straight to the tunnels as an axis mg42 (good view of bridge box and tank) and hardly anyone answers my “V22” calls. When I do pack up and go looking for ammo, we have lost the tunnels and there are all kinds of vermin running around it

(SCDS_reyalP) #14

Actually, there is something a lot like that… following a wounded player half way across the map yelling “i’m a medic” only to watch him get gunned down, go to revive him and get your self killed as well.

Even so, spamming is bad. If someone doesn’t notice the first few calls, 100 more are NOT going to help. People who do it need a mute or kick.

(Riftgarde) #15

Too bad, if the blue exclaimation point stayed up, you could make an alias so it goes off with every other key you use to keep teammates informed more often.

And now for the silliness:

Run around as a medic yelling “Need a medic!”.

Run around as a field op yelling “I need ammo!”.

(Rippin Kitten) #16

so is shooting their foot[/quote]

I tk people who do this. Sorry I didn’t immediately jump to your every whim, but I might have bigger things to worry about. Revives come before health packs, and sometimes blocking an objective with an arty strike will do more help for us than feeding one guy ammo. I’ll get to you when I can. And shooting me to get my attention just makes me want to kill you, not help you.

I find spamming actually helps with lesser skilled players. Mostly because they can hear what i want while they see me. They usually dont even see the exclamation point, so a few verbal requests really help. Also, they probably don’t check the text box very much, so the only really way to get through is verbal communication.

“The enemy is weakened!”

“Nein!”

“Yes!”

“Nein”

“Affirmative!”

…is another story…
