V-Chat in ET

Splash Damage -

Its great to see a startup company land an opportunity like ET.

From one developer to another, and from one avid lover of the wolfenstein series, I implore you, neigh; I beg of you, please redo the V-chats for ET.

I work in a recording studio and have over 100 actors I can call on at any time to lay down dialog. I would gladly record the v-chat dialogs over again for ET if it means never having to hear the current v-chats again.

If there are no plans by splash damage to redo the current V-chat overlays will it be possible for 3rd parties (like myself) to create sound packs for ET that can replace the current v-chats and other sound effects?

Hmmmmmmmm…i disagree, i felt those Elmer Fud Vsays added whole nother dimention to this game.

ok, bust seriously…they MUST redo the vsay sounds and fix the cannon&pellet gun sound…uh i mean Thompson & Mp40.

Edit: ReReading the post I noticed you said you could lay down some dialogs for some voice actors, that would be awesome! I think all the ET community agrees that the ET V Says suck.

I would rather they didn’t sound like the RTCW ones though I think they encouraged spamming and bad sportsmanship by being too caricatured.

I prefer the more down to business ones in ET.

Though the Allied ‘thanks a lot pal’ sounds really ungrateful the sort of think you might use after a TK rather than a revive.

Do the fireteam chats that echo the main ones have to use the 6 prefix I thought having pressed Z would be enough.

The v-chats add another dimension to the gameplay. Saying that the v-chats in rtcw fuel v-chat flaming is BS because dumbass kids will spam no matter what the v-chats sound like, its just a fact of multiplayer gaming.

The v-chats need work, alot of work, the only reason I bring it up is because changing the current v-chats to new ones would probably take about 30 minutes to impliment on the development end.

I also am not overly impressed with the voice samples, most especially “Thanks a lot pal”.

I would like to see some of the simple Axis voice samples to be german, but not all of them. Most people do not speak German and would have no idea what is being said.

BTW. The TourOfDuty Mod, on the other hand, is still one big puzzle for me, voice wise : they have real Vietnam sentences/voices in there : It’s hilarious :slight_smile:

Well, I’ll see what changes get made in the next version of ET, if the v-chats are still the same or equally as bad I’ll record the v-says over, with real actors, with a mix or English-German for axis, and then again with all German v-says for axis. OMG! Imagine, people might actually “learn” a bit of another language by playing a video game! That would royally suck.

But there are many speeches that turn the axis speeches into a joke…

A german would call for a Sani (like in the word Sanatorium) and not maydayk (should this to be the german kind of outspoking of english words??).
I liked the original RTCW speeches, they were a great mix and the speeches sounded original (jawohl ;),…Los, los, los)

And the sense is the same as for allies,… and the text could be in english so there is noprob of nonunderstanding ((ohshit my english sucks ;)),… ah yes and there was no engineer, there was pioniers ;).
Hey, i am german and it is a duty (in grammar schools) here to have history at a minimum of 2 years. A main thing in the third empire was the language,… it was forbidden to use english or even latin foreing words.
