Updating our ET/ETF/ETPro and ETQW folders

(Aarsbuds0r) #1

Hi, SNT Twente is hosting a public 1000Mbits FTP and we’re in the process of updating/cleaning our games downloads. I am responsable for the ET-parts of it, but I don’t have much experience with these games. I’ve been searching a lot and trying to find out what files are needed and which aren’t, but it’s kind of a jungle out there. I’m afraid that I will remove files that are important and add files that are obsolete. I hope someone(s) with some good knowledge of these games can help me out.

The address is http://vlaai.snt.utwente.nl/pub/games/

I’d like to re-arrange the ET/ETpro/ETF/ETQW folders so they make sense, have all up-to-date files that are needed and not old stuff that’s not needed. Any help would be appreciated, for example a list of how you would do it.

Thanks in advance.

Hmm, did some more searching on the web and I think it got it reasonably up-to-date now.

About the ET:QW files:

[ul][li] remove the beta files, those have become unusable now since the key authentication system has been disabled.
[/li][li] The demo files could still use some server files. Grab these files from id’s BitTorrent tracker:
[/li][list:d65f3b49b3]
[li] ETQW-demo-server-1.0-full.r3.x86.run
[/li][li] ETQW-demo-server-1.0-full.exe
[/li][/ul]
[li] Next, the retail game’s files, also on the BitTorrent server:
[/li][ul]
[li] ETQW-server-1.1-nomedia.r2.x86.run (Linux dedicated server, needs media copied from ET:QW DVD)
[/li][li] ETQW-server-1.1-full.r2.x86.run (Linux dedicated server, necessary media for official maps included)
[/li][li] ETQW-server-1.0-1.1-update.exe (Windows server update for dedicated server on DVD)
[/li][li] ETQW-client-1.0-1.1-update.exe (Windows client update for dedicated server on DVD)
[/li][/ul]
[/list:u:d65f3b49b3]

I guess that’s about it. The Linux client still needs to be released, there hasn’t been an ETA on that one.

might want to add the 2.60b patch to the ET downloads, necessary to play on ETPro 3.2.6

The 2.60b patch now sits in the root, when you just clicked Enemy Territory.

But I guess that file is only a fix for the Windows platform and not for Linux? (The Mac version even went to 2.60d if I’m not mistaken.)

Tnx all. The 2.60b has windows/linux/mac files in it.

I’ll have to see if there’s even newer for mac.

In http://vlaai.snt.utwente.nl/pub/games/enemyterritory/mac/ I have a 2.60d installer.

I think it’s all pretty complete now. Or does someone have comments?
