free for 2 weeks …
turn it to free to pay !!!
who gonna pay the DLC if there is no players anymore ? 50 box a half game and now we need to pay again ?
Would be foolish to pay for something that was already too much $$$ for a slightly fun game.
I mean some ppl paid 60 dollars. I cant imagine this!

I paid 36 from d2d and thats the most i would pay. now they want more $$$ how sad.
This wouldn’t stop me or anyone I know from recommending the game to others. Why’s everyone acting like SD raped their mother’s? They said free DLC to make up for problems at launch. That would mean that it should be free to those who suffered through all the problems. Not to everyone.

You’re still getting your free DLC and they get a paycheck for all their work. Win/Win. I don’t understand what people’s problem is with charging money for a product. Especially considering everyone who has already purchased the game or who purchases it within 2 weeks of the DLC release gets the DLC for free.

In the end for all we know DLC on PC will be totally free forever and they will only charge on 360. That is a pretty common practice after all.
Crap like this prevents the playerbase from growing, especially for a game that got bad reviews and doesn’t have many people left on the servers. For me to get an enjoyable experience from the game it needs plenty of real people playing it, not bots. If the game was a raving success it would be less of an issue, but it’s… not a raving success. They need to bring people in, not alienate them with limits.

couldnt of said it better myself, look at quakelive they have made it so premium/paid accounts can only get access to certain gametypes and maps… completely segregating the community

(Joe999) #144

you should put that in the news text. and best would be in bold letters. i’ve been pissed off by the news tbh (splitting players by map possession, etc) … until i found your info.

(V1cK_dB) #145

(Zanchile) #146

(MorsTua) #148

i was already hating you guys

Is this a try to make people come back in a reasonable time?

btw juz one thing, can we have an editable crosshair? i dont think it’s impossible…

photosh… ops brink

I seriously can’t believe that there are people who do not understand the concept of “free for the first 2 weeks, then you have to pay for it”

It’s friggin OBVIOUS that it’s free if you grab it within 2 weeks, and after that people have to pay for it.

(IncubusDragon) #150

I pre-ordered Brink for my PC and enjoy the game, but UK Steam Store still says Brink is not currently available in our area… please make sure you got your UK customers covered when DLC is released.

cheers

(tokamak) #151

It didn’t say that. The actual quote is : “The game’s first DLC, Agents of Change, will be FREE for two weeks”

Not the first two weeks. And even that can be interpreted as it being a two week test period.

that isnt the point, the point is they have clearly said numerous times that the first dlc would be free for everybody, and then the ones after that would require you to pay for them…

lets not mention the fact that the majority of the DLC content was already in the game on release, and its gone from ‘it will be out early june’ to ‘it will be out early july’
this is the point where simultaneous releases suck, for pc users especially

I beg to differ

We would like to thank you for supporting Brink and for your continued feedback. To show our appreciation for your support of Brink, we will be making the first DLC for Brink available for free when it is released.

They said it would be free at release, which is true. They never said it would be free forever

So 2 new maps + Flyer drones and more rubbish! (Which we might have to pay for!?!)

FIX THE GAME 1st!

You delivered a broken game killing the player base immediately. By not fixing the issues in prompt time you destroyed 90% of my regions Brink community to the point where it is lucky if you can find a full server once a day. You now serve up a patch late! which only addresses a couple of issues. This patch penalize players use certain weapons and can aim by making their guns less accurate and do less damage (BC2 Cough), you also boost “No skill kill” guns (TF2 Cough) and now may make your suffering patrons pay for a DLC which we pray will bring people back to the game.

If your agenda was to make a game which takes peoples money and kills the gaming community off in 3 months so you don’t have to provide support you are succeeding with flying colours!

I was a huge supporter of ETQW and recommended Brink to friends before release based on the belief that you would have learnt lessons from previous games and build a well polished and superior game to ET & ETQW. While their are some good ideas in the game I am really embarrassed I recommended this game to any PC gamer and will ever recommend a Splash Damage title again!

 1. Fix bugs (You want a list ask).
 2. Release Mod Tools.
 3. Drop price of game (Particularly in Aus $90 on Steam for a game with such a bad reputation!).
 4. Release an always free DLC as an apology to customers.
 5. Remove staff who were responsible for releasing a game which had such major issues on release.

If you don’t get this right I have a feeling your most die hard fans will lose the faith and never buy a Splash Damage title in the future.

A lot of you newbcakes still don´t get it. The dlc its free for those who already own a copy of brink and download the DLC in a 2 weeks limit.

That new map in the screenshots visually looks pretty awsome.

And last of all, i honestly doubt that many people that will buy brink in future will buy the DLC, so that might potentialy devide a already small comunity wich sounds like a bad idea.

Clutching at straws

Giggity Giggity. Can’t wait to play the new ****!

(Je T´aime) #158

My big issue with brink are the maps, they look good and etc, but if both teams are decent completing 1st objective in reactor is a lie, completing the 1st objective in shipyard is a lie.

The way brink is suposed to be played is Stopwatch, but the majority of servers dont even run it. So it ends up beyng really boring to attack if the other team have a solid defense.

with no Stopwatch by default makes no sense to have maps where just 1 team attacks and 1 team defends for public servers, would be a lot more fun for both sides if you had symetrical maps where both teams had to attack and defend some objectives since Stopwatch doesn´t happens in the majority of the servers.

In Batlefield bad company 2 the gamemode is kinda like Stopwatch too, but its default for all servers and the objectives are balanced and easy for the attacking team to complete the first objectives.

THEY NEVER SAID FREE TO EVERYBODY. Do people just make up what they want to read/hear?

“To show our appreciation for your support of Brink, we will be making the first DLC for Brink available for free when it is released.”

Tell me where the lie is in that statement? This is the only article officially from SD btw where I found them mentioning it being free at all so I don’t know where you get the numerous times from either.

In that statement they said they are making it free to show their appreciation to people that supported Brink through its problems. So the free-ness directly relates to those that have already purchased the product and are sticking around through all the problems (not everyone). It says it will be free when it is released (not forever, not in perpetuity, not to everyone, and not to whatever other made up stuff you want to include in there). It’s free at release for 2 weeks. Sorry they left out the two weeks part, maybe they didn’t decide on that part yet and didn’t want to state incorrect information. Or maybe they don’t have to spell out every single facet of their plans to their customer base. Stop just reading what you want or making stuff up it gets old.

In all honesty they are actually giving away for free to many people that weren’t early adopters as anyone who purchased the game since the lag issues in particular ended weeks ago is going to get free DLC as well.

Uh…where did you see that all this stuff was in the game at release? Certainly the ideas might have been tested and in development, on a test server, w/e, but obviously they were not complete. The fact that they had to push the release date back kinda says they must have been doing some work on it. Even if the release date is pushed back due to certification it still means that they didn’t get it to certification as quickly as they thought and that means…they were still working on it. Also once again they never said early June, they just said June. Again stop making stuff up. That nullifies your whole argument there.

Also the alternative to them being wrong about a launch window (which happens all the time in the gaming world) would be them not announcing any time frame at all and only saying “We’re working on DLC coming in the future…” I’d much rather have at time frame.

It appears that many of the people making this argument that it was supposed to be free to everyone, forever, and all future DLC should be free just took their interpretation of what was written and ran with it. Rather than just going with what was actually on the page.

(BiigDaddyDellta) #160

Lol it will be free to everyone for the first two weeks, then after that it will cost money or points or whatever to download. Why is everyone so hard headed when it comes to that? It’s not a difficult concept.
