Unfortunately, it isn't RTCW

I second RuleofBooKz comment on Aura’s healing power - a competent Aura and Fragger combo can basically lock down a route. It’s heal throughput should be greatly reduced if damage has been taking in the last 2s, moderately reduced in the last 5s and lightly reduced in the last 7s with no healing penalty if no damage has been taken in the last 10s.

Also somewhat concerned of a “pay to win” element with certain load outs providing a rather significant advantage which has an exacerbated impact on new players as not only does a new player have to learn the fundamentals of DB whilst being penalised for having an inferior toolkit available to them.

Body types…what can I say. I dislike DBs implementation of body types (and prefer how Brink did it but would prefer ET over that still). I think heavy has too much hp which leads to an overabundance of Fraggers - perhaps not as big a problem in a proMod situation if Fragger could be limited but that doesn’t exist as yet and if a proMod does pop up it would yet to be seen what controls it has. I think RTCW through to ETQW had it right with engi/fop/medic being the bulk of your gunners with the soldier (Fragger) basically utilised for heavy weapons.

Rtcw was made back in the day where kids of the world didnt expect cod style game play. This is the new world which is why games like quake and rtcw will never have an impact. Out of all the quake live pro’s how many of them were younger than 18? My guess is not very many.

Db is trying to entice the young and larger player base. If you want to play a game like rtcw, I’d suggest playing rtcw.

(RuleofBooKz) #23

Thank you for your suggestion potty. Love ET and if they made a carbon copy on a recent engine id be there.

Until that time I believe i shall continue to offer my insight and opinion on this game and see if it resonates with the community at large.

Hopefully with enough support, and the continued input of more experienced if not outright more clever minds than mine, we might improve on what is undeniably a solid foundation that DB has achieved. We can do that by pooling our collective wisdom into fine tuning some less polished or less balanced aspects of the game.

Its early days - think of where we might be a few months down the track from here?
I

I would like to see some ET Maps get remade
Actually in the earlier BETA phase the maps were larger and resembled ET maps. For example london bridge w/e it was called was exacly like Goldrush and Terminal was like oasis

Go play with 3burst fire and tell me headshots aren’t neccesary again o.o

I already said that in one of my earlier posts- in shorter words lol.

Also, as I also said, this is a FTP model with all the trappings and limitations therein. That includes target audience, along with the year 2015 stamped on it. Anything you are saying, amusingly, is agreeing with what I already posted. Was wondering if you were still around bragging and talking junk on the servers in-game still that you are a God. Still doing it?

I dont hate on Glovepie, lol. The developer of wiimote program kinda has a beef/issue with it though lol. That isn’t my issue, considering I work with a lot of big Glovepie FPS users and we talk and share code ideas often.

Btw, someone asked before about competitiveness- I am not as good using the wiimote yet as I wish, but there is a vid that the dev just made in another game : Ill post the link in offtopic section so you can compare. He is really quite good.

Just so you all know,

Darkcola used to play another f2p game called Blacklight: Retribution where he was pretty notorious for being a prick on the forums, and having a massive (and undeserving) ego in game.

(syku) #31

I bet if they remade RTCW in a new engine you would still complain about everything B)

(humaneBerry) #32

I do not agree with this post.
It seems to me like you want a re-release of RTCW but i don’t think that is what the majority would like. Too often people reminisce over the past and games theyve played and it all seems like the best thing there was. When you actually go back and play em its not as enjoyable as it was back then for some mysterious reason.

Shotguns in this game do alot of damage upclose and are really quite devestating. Can it be because a shotgun is in fact a shotgun and does a shit ton of damage in small quarters?

Someone said they wanted 3 hit headshots regardless of weapon and range. this is absolutely silly in my opinion. Each weapon should have its pros and cons. Besides, the scale of the maps allows for fairly efficient use of all weapons as it is but to say that an smg should equal an assault rifle at long range (it would infact be better because of a higher rate of fire) just doesnt sit right with me.

I like the diversity of the classes and I hope for even more diversity and options. To me it captures the same draft spirit, if you will, as a moba. Not one team will have the exact same tactic to the same maps because their setups play very differently. Sure there will be certain combos that are used more frequently but thats just the nature of things like this.

Keep it up devs. there are more rights than wrongs with this game.
Im good lol.
I find Amerika fun to banter with, because he insists on making his points. I refuse to accept his premise(s). He ignores the posts I made singling out the particular comments that were themselves insulting. I think he just wants to be THAT guy. But, if he can contain himself- great. He made his minor point, I kick it away, it doesn’t need to go further unless he wants to take it to private messages. SO I’ll be the one to say it first, go PM if you want to say anything else, Amy or whatever. lol.

anyways, yes of course- everyone goes for the head if they are trained for it. You must understand, it is why I love fps games that focus on headshots. It is however, why I am disapointed with DB- headshots are for most intents and purposes not worth much of the effort- you can slide by just fine and get destroyed just fine without even having one scored on you. My point is, we all agree headshots are boss, but I do not feel it is made significant enough in DB at this point to be worth troubling myself for if I was a regular player. It was also an old lament that persisted from many I have heard in the earlier versions of this game.

You made aggressive and insulting comments towards people who disagreed with you and you are attempting to deflect by playing the victim. You are trying to justify being a jerk to people while and attempting to turn comments back on people. This thread should be locked.

Good thing this is my opinion and my point to look towards clan competitiveness in the future.

the too often comment- hahaha, its cute. Im not reminiscing saying rtcw was better than sliced bread, but we have a game that has roots in this gameplay. And I am wondering (all the points I listed) if the game will have the option and community support (after much testing) to make a strict mod or ruleset to play seriously. Right now, its kinda funny on many levels.

Shotguns in this game do alot of damage upclose and are really quite devestating. Can it be because a shotgun is in fact a shotgun and does a shit ton of damage in small quarters?

I was testing ranges- I got killed at mid to far range with three shots by the default proxy shotgun using a 100+ health class. It would seem your tongue in cheek comment is not well planned out. As fun as this is for me, who honestly loves a shotgun in any fps game- the sidestepping speed to corner camp and shotgun away down a long corridor and not get punished for it- is a major issue in this game.

3 hit hs is silly— to you. The comment is based in root on the older games, again like RTCW, where all guns were equal. In ET thomspon and MP40 were made to play exactly the same in speed and damage. So the concept of 3 shots to the head for death in this context makes perfect sense. But this assumes balance of weaponry. We arent talking of course of the rocket launchers and mortar fire in the game- which would be stupid to compare this too as they were specialized classes for certain problems.

Diversity is fine, longevity and fun would be even better.

Keep it up devs. there are more rights than wrongs with this game.
I appreciate your input! And it is a decently presented argument, without mostly any derogatory statements. Love!

(RuleofBooKz) #38

if they remade RTCW in a new engine BUT put in some of the things like what they have done here in DB, well i could imagine that very similar complaints to those raised here might be voiced.

(humaneBerry) #39

I still can not agree fully with you dark cola. You got killed in three shots on med-long range with a shotgun… to be fair, if you do not return fire withing the time it takes to land three shots with a shotgun from medium to long range you are not playing the game right. It’s stating that something is wrong based on a premise for comparison that simply wasnt never intended. I am not saying that the might need to further tweak the guns but is absolutely not gamebreaking.

And the concept of three headshot kills will never make sense to me. If i entered a duel with an equally skilled player the guy who had the highest firerate on his gun would win. 100% of the time.
One could argue that all the guns should be streamlined. Well if we do give them all the same firerate then we’d have to give them the same projectile damage and in essence we’d make them all the same.

And how longevity equates to simplistic and generic classes and nothing new to the fps table i really don’t understand either. To me this is a comment that further tells me that you don’t want anything new. you want RCTW.

well, there’s Wolfenstein : New Order and coming up Wolfenstein : Old Blood both on new engines
