Turrets... oh god the turrets

Going back on topic, I think a very very slight increase in lock on time (at close range they can seem a little bit confused) or faster tracking speed might work butI can still think of many instances against a couple engies where I’ve really struggled to break through a well defended choke point because the turrets are facing me and they’re being well defended.

Turrets seem great at range but you don’t always have that range to work with making them quite situational. I would like to see them active in closer quarters somehow but I really don’t want them to take anything away from the infantry gameplay. Turrets should be a concern but the owner should always be more of a threat if he’s defending it. You have 2 targets, he has one…
I’m a pretty patient guy, so when I first used the turrets in this game and watched 6 enemies run past it without my turret even flinching, I kept trying to find out how one would even go about using these things efficiently.

So far, I haven’t been able to find anything that REALLY makes use of it. Close quarters don’t give it enough reaction time, long distances mean the turret won’t reach, and for SOME REASON, turrets can’t perform on high up ledges, which would be great if they could, because I could parkour to so many places for my turret.

The only situation is at a medium distance, where the target stands still for a couple seconds directly in front of the turret. Even then, I get a couple hits with the turret before it gets disabled. (ASEGFADSFGHD).

Maybe my expectations are just too high for the turrets. Are they really just meant as a means of distractions? Because that’s all they seem to be of use as. Or am I just doing it wrong.

I’m not really here to complain, so much as to get some clarification so I can actually use them properly.
i find them to be very useful you just have to know how to get them to target people.
when you set up your turret facing the point, you should almost always stand behind it. once there if you need to cover your azz set mines up behind you. then open fire on every and all targets that come into the field of fire of the turret. i find that shooting and ironsiting will make the turret target the enemy. also if your setup and dont need to cover your ass set mines in the field of fire of the turret. this also helps the turret to target the enemy.

i would like to see the high lvl turrets get a greater field rotation. 45* out of 360 is bad. should be atleast 90* turn for the gatlin turret

Do you have ANY proof of that actually working? Or is that all speculation? Because I doubt all of those points.

well i play pc version and my turret works it. lol

try it out.i guess it could be from people shooting at me. but my turret fires back lol

Not sure if this is right or I was seeing things but I had a quick go as Operative last night. If I target spotted an enemy that was in sight of a friendly turret - it went berserk spitting lead at them.

Coincidence? Or is that part of the target enemy ability to trigger turrets scanning?

I wouldn’t be surprised if turrets reacted in a similar way to bots regarding enemies that are on their radar. If that’s the case, any spotting helps and Homing Beacon may be even more effective. I notice bots on my team tend to become more focused when I spot enemies.

you can always hide inside your turrets. just crouch and phase into them. most bullets and grenades wont even hit you and if your lucky your turret will get massive kills

I will try and confirm tonight. The only problem is that the time it takes to spot an enemy is about the same time it takes the turret to spot them too! I will have to spot one round a corner and hope he runs into the turret.
