In fairness, XP is given based on what you do in game i think, whereas tokens are time based. I bought some gold, gives vip status which gives you +50% more tokens and xp permanantly. Dont regret it, iv unlocked 3 classes from tokens and 4 from gold, more than happy to give money to a company making a fast skill based game in todays climate. Also i feel like my £20 has been far better spent than the £30 i spent on BF3.

How do I see when (and if) I got invites to spent?

If someone has an invite spare, there’s this really big Tribes fan raving about the trailer he just saw today. You can make his day.

I believe you need to have atleast VIP status to be able to recieve beta keys. Your available keys will be shown in the Hi-Command.

Updated first post with any free beta keys i have. Cba, sending individually, if you want one, take one. Will replace with new ones regularly if the codes are used. Just install Hi-command first http://www.tribesascend.com/ then check here if there are codes. Will keep adding new ones so if someone uses it first just check back another time.

ok just played my first game which was a 2v2… took maybe 5 minutes to get the hang of the movement with the default setting. Had to change the binds around to something more etqwish, and then that immediately made it “click” for me. Rego was good, got a few mid air kills but nothing too epic.

Uhm yeah… I got a little annoyed about the poor poor defense we had, so I went sniper to kill these pesky flag grabbers.
Gotta love the jammer (removes arrow above your head and blurs you) pack that sentinel gets, let’s me snipe undisturbed most of the time.

Also… got more keys as well, give me a shout if you want one.

Yeah, not unlocked any classes yet, but it’s only been week and half or so, be nice to be able change to something to counter the enemy’s line up.

Starting to get some more long range spinfusor kills but never midair, find it hard sometimes to tell which direction they are traveling when they are in front, if I’m approaching from side and they are crossing me it’s ok.

Just played my first round and I gotta say the skiing/jetpack mechanic feels really cool. It is easy to learn but hard to master. Also hitting with a spinfusor is much harder than I imagined it would be, in all those youtube videos it looks quite easy :slight_smile:

By the way, what FOV are you guys using? I changed it to 110 right of the bat cause it is the value I use in Quake Live but I think it might be too high for Tribes.

I may well plough some money into this myself, although I’d like to see their plans for new maps and server rentals first. There seem to be plenty of old Tribes players complaining about the speed and the hit-scan weapons but it feels pretty good to me.

Still struggling to maintain momentum while shooting but I love the movement system. I even like the feeling of total impotence when you run out of boost mid-fight.

Ahhh, I wondered about the token/xp awards. I guess this way it’s easier for them to balance free unlocking times vs paid times. It also removes the temptation for children to all join the ‘best’ team on public servers in the hope of levelling up faster.
