Tram Siege for ET

(=DoW=I'm_Drunk) #1

Does anyone have any interest in this, or is anyone currently working on it?

I, for one, REALLY miss this map. C’mon Splash Damage. . you made the map. .port it to ET

It is old, we need new maps, someone might argue. I dont agree. I think it would be cool to get Tram for ET. I am nostalgic - is that a crime?

two words

MARKET GARDEN!!!

yeah that too. .give us the package deal. .

maybe as an xmas present :stuck_out_tongue:

In some ways tram and MG might be even more suited to et than rtcw, just imho.

(Cyber-Knight) #6

i think ET was somewhat inspired by Tram.

I mean, most of the ET maps work in “2 phases”.
ie. Fuel Dump. Tank before blowing main entrance (phase 1) After blwoing main entrance (phase 2)
ie. Oasis. Before Old City Wall Breach (phase 1) after old city wall breach (phase 2)

Tram also has this similar system.

(Mjolnyr) #7

Perhaps not ‘ET is inspired by mp_tram’, but ‘mp_tram represents Splash Damage’s thought about map balance’.

(Kendle) #8

Agreed. Tram would be an obvious candidate for ET conversion being biased towards Axis already, and also Market Garden for its scale. As both were made by SD it should be more than possible for them to convert them, though I’d guess unlikely to happen.

Are you sure? Wasn’t tram an arty/airstrike/panzer spamfest already in wolf. With levelled up Fops and Psoldiers wouldn’t that make it even worse in ET? Anyway, I liked it a little since it reminded me about the movie “Where Eagles Dare”. Sadly, none of the sneakyness in the movie were present in the map.

I played marketgarden very little but wasn’t that map sort of a “Team Deathmatch” or a “King of the Hill” type of game fighting about the forward spawn. Did anyone make it through to complete the objectives?

(Kendle) #10

Yep, that’s why it’s an obvious candidate. It would fit right in with all the other ET maps that are arty/airstrike/panzer spamfests. (I wish forums had a <sarcasm> </sarcasm> tag).

Tjaba!
I tell what I do, occationally, when my kids are in bed. I get a beverage
:drink:
I fire up RtCW and logon to SDs marketgarten server. Crowded. I select engineer, and set to work. My only objective is to blow the radio (when axis) or that towerdoor (as allied). It is so fun. And yes, it is possible to achieve the main objective in the map. I sneak, and sneak, and eventually I get thru. But it is not over yet! You need to have plenty of health, some backup - if possible -, and get a couple of headshots, poff poff, to prevent the respawning heros from defusing. Grenades are the dyna-guarding engineer’s best friend.
I have to try like 25 times sometimes more, before I do it. It can take an hour. Sometimes faster, sometimes slower. But the main thing is that is fun.
I think the thing that makes it fun, is that you get to “know” the movement patters of the defenders. So that you can anticipate where they camp, and what choke point is too crowded at the moment, and where it is safe to sneak.
Then it is well past midnight, and I have to work the next day. I turn the computer off, and brush my teeth.

A good 3 map campaign would be:

Tram Siege
Market Garden
and Beach Invasion

Maybe they could add trenchtoast too.

(Cyber-Knight) #13

but ET doesn’t employ any checkpoint type maps.
