I am writing to ask one last thing from SD. In the past i have had questions about mapping and you katz have been very helpful. The work/Time put into ET had to being immeasurable, You even gave us a free game. and whatt am i asking for? well… TRAM!!

I was wondering if any real thought could possibly be mustered in order to kick out a Tram conversion for ET. I am not sure if begging would help but if thats where i have to start so be it. Please. Not for ME, but or the community PLEASE. If it’s a matter of legal wranglings, or Money or both, then I am offering to raise the money myself, to buy you the rights to whatever you need to do it. Set a goal amount and a timelimit as to when, and I will work to make it happen and i have confidence that i would not be taking up this cause alone…thats how addicted to this game i am.

so sock, or anybody who reads these forums anymore…if you are listening… please at least give it a thought.

I have often thought about trying to get someone to convert it from RTCW. I have even seen some conversions (they were not so good) and keep hoping that i will see a real deal conversion from you guys at some point. But I , and many others , are wondering if it can ever happen. I know it can. I just hope it isn’t in the realm of “Al Sharpton could be President…” and more along the lines of “if time is freed up it might be…” I think this would be the sweetest thing of all.

I am sure this will not be the last request on this topic, but it will be from me.

if tram is a mod then try and get the source off acti and get someone to make it or if its a map go ask in the mappers forum for someone to do conversion

I don’t feel that Tram was one of Splash Damage’s best works. It was good for mindless fragging on big servers, but didn’t work very well otherwise. For it to be a viable Enemy Territory map, I think they would have to hack around in it to make it balanced, and playable with all of Enemy Territory’s features.

I would much rather see Splash Damage finish up those 3-4 maps that they didn’t have time to finish before Enemy Territory was released to the public. If only they weren’t working on Doom 3… :frowning:

And, of course, Activision. We really are the hired hands here. If they want us to do more ET, we’ll do more ET. Right now they want us to do Doom 3, which is keeping us kinda busy.

Bottom line; if you can persuade id and Activision, it might well happen. You don’t need to persuade us : )

How about a poll of the most favoured maps,
then people can start running a few servers with
them only?

Might get the ball rolling towards an accepted new
campaign of maps?..

I’m not sure of many custom maps. Perhaps the guys who run
Fansites might have a better idea to what custom maps are
popular and are being played regularly. Then they could submit the
poll???. Mr DG RTCW site for one???

Or can a normal (fan) map maker make??? I mean with out being sued or what ever :smiley:

I dont think anybody is going to sue for copying a map with no commercial intent. Though maybe some fans will be upset if you do a crappy job :stuck_out_tongue:

esp when taking a map from one activision-published game and porting it to another activision-published game, and even more so when the original game doesnt exactly sell anymore.

Tram was one of the best, if not, theee best multi-objective map for RTCW. In either form for RTCW or ET, it’s still the best high player marathon map around. An ET conversion would be sweet

I wouldn’t be surprised if id/activision is saving assets from conversion so they can sell us an ET expansion pack later on, seeing how popular ET has become.

$19-$29 wouldn’t be too bad for a dozen more maps, no 800x600 bug, no crash after downloading large pk3’s, etc.

hmm, those RtCW GoTY maps might fit ET better than the original Wolf tbh - I’m just waiting now to see if DG gets an ET RtCW war maps server going with some of the converted original RtCW maps :slight_smile:

Love Tram, is/was best map on rtcw.

Seems to be last RTCW map to be ported.

We have various beaches, ice, TC base and so forth but the best one is not done!!

Have not seen communique either (I think it was called this, single radar dish to blow).

Communique = Base, converted to ET and called tc_base. Worst ET map ever.

Tram would be the perfect ET map, seeing as it’s so biased to defense. Perfect for Campaign that is. Tram is and was a totally god-awful map for Clan matches, and I’d have no doubt an ET Tram conversion would be just as awful. Mind you, Tram = Sniper heaven in RTCW, and as Snipers are so weak in ET (by comparison) it might be remotely playable after all.
