Trailer / gameplay footage

(DoubleDigit) #1

I really hope you guys are not going to keep us waiting until 2 days before release to see some gameplay of this game.

And please, move away from that generic military style crap presentations everybody is doing. NOBODY plays games like that. Show some real multiplayer pvp kick ass combat, I don’t know, get some really good clans like 4Kings to play and record whatever they’re doing (clan voice chat mandatory).

P.S.

On one the screenshots, there are some words in romanian on a wall “Vopsea Sange Mitraliere” which is “Paint, Blood, Machineguns”, only that ‘Mitraliere’ is spelt wrong, it says ‘Mitrailiere’ (an ‘i’ after ‘a’, not supposed to be there)… Please fix!

lol, something like the Starcraft 2 Battle Reports? That would be really great

Exactly, well said.

(Bezzy) #4

But this is somewhat realistic: Graffiti artists’ spelling is often on par with Youtube commenters’.

(DoubleDigit) #5

true, true.

(NoFace) #6

Some are artists though, dont forget that. But your right the majority of it is just shit :frowning:

(Bezzy) #7

Also, language is malleable and constantly changing and yaddah yaddah.

In the future, it’s “i” before “e”, except after NOTHING. We’ll just have one consistent rule for that. And we’ll also just spell stuff how it sounds. And everyone who listens to Radio 4 will be dead.

(DoubleDigit) #8

Well, in romanian 99% of the words are spelled how they sound except for those that contain ‘che’, ‘chi’, ‘ghe’ and ‘ghi’.

Back on the original post:
Don’t know what Bethesda strategy for promoting this game is but you guys have a serios competitor in BF Bad company2. From what I’ve seen it has some nice ideas that look just like taken out of enemy territory:

  • objective based on at least some maps
  • medic class
  • that atv is just so like the one in quake wars, only better, you can shoot while riding it.

Plus the kick ass ability to destroy everything, building, vehicles, even the ground changes after a blast.

Furthermore it will be released in the same time with Brink so… again… start showing something to the public.

EDIT: Some people are playing the beta of BFBC2 already…

(Exedore) #10

Including some of us!

Everything’s shiny, Cap’n. Not to fret. There are plans within plans!

Yeah, I sent that text to Olivier. It’s spelt wrong but I’m sure that’s just a mistake caused by the process

(tokamak) #12

Would that add anything to the gameplay? In Red Faction it’s quite gimmicky.

(x3mytiz) #13

Hehehe, according imdb.com, when asked about the misspelled title (Inglourious Basterds), director Quentin Tarantino gave the following answer: “Here’s the thing. I’m never going to explain that. You do an artistic flourish like that, and to explain it would just take the piss out of it and invalidate the whole stroke in the first place.”

I agree with you regarding how it was implemented in red faction. Have a look at the gameplay trailers for this at gametrailers and you’ll see there’s much more to it in this game.

It certainly changes map design. Now people have to take into consideration the fact that at some point every building will be destroyed. Hopefully that point isn’t very close to the begining.
As a player too you have to think twice before finding cover, a building doesn’t help you much against a tank or artillery now.
Also the fact the even terrain is changed could present some surprises when you have a certain route planned.

But all in all, so many new way to teamkill people.

This is fun in sandbox games like RF and Crysis but Brink is about playing scenarios with a strong narrative. The level design is a huge part of the game and being able to change it on the go will ruin this aspect.

(DoubleDigit) #17

Well, I was talking about BC2. In games like Brink, without vehicles, there isn’t much environment destruction you can cause without exaggerating. A grenade bringing the ceiling down here and there… maybe, but I guess that’s kinda it, even more so, with Brink being indoors mostly. Unless you want to start digging through walls and such of course.

This reminds of Magic Carpet back in the day… you had spells to cut your way into cave walls. Man, I wish they’d make a remake of that game.

(tokamak) #18

Not only that, most of Brink’s surroundings seem to be either armed concrete or steel containers. It would demand allot of rendering power and design headaches for such low impacts.

(BioSnark) #19

Tightly laid out and balanced objective maps shouldn’t have destructible environments unless they are in a limited number of locations or don’t alter the map layout.

I’m actually happy that Brink don’t have vehicle. This way, SD can concentrate on the gameplay with guns. It bring back some old school run and gun style which I welcome. I’m tired of games like COD, and BF, OF:DR. I just hope the don’t noob it out and allow everyone to have some decent shooting skill to shoot someone.
