Trailer / gameplay footage

There’s an idea brewing in my head for a mod with insane assymetry. One side: Best guns, most agile (like the best of both body types combined) vs the other side: medium in everything, but with vehicles.

Then basing it loosely on the movie ‘District 9’ with highly agile prawn aliens with super weapons vs the MNU, normal soldiers with vehicles and helicopters.

(BioSnark) #22

I’m happy it doesn’t have vehicles because the engine they’re using sucked badly with vehicles in etqw.

(Shiv) #23

nope, they simply didn’t add the net code stuff to the vehicles that they did to the players.
which is why there are so many no-reg arf in dogfights

(BioSnark) #24

I don’t think that would have been helpful considering how ETQW already rapes servers. I don’t just mean hit reg, however. Physics and collision damage is also poor.

(Jamieson) #25

I think vehicles in ETQW were ok they were no way near as bad as BF because if you had the right people you could take them down but flyer whores and stuff just got annoying after awhile.

Me and my teammates prefered 4v4 comp but 6v6 was ok with limitations.

The only problem is if you don’t include vehicles then you must replace them with something else to extend the games life. The great thing about ETQW was there were so many things to master, if you got bored with playing the objective you could switch to medic/field ops and play support or you could learn to tank etc.

I thought it was already mentioned somewhere that Brink wont incude player controlled vehicles more like the tank from WET i.e the robot seen in the screenshots. Maybe gun turrets mounted on stationary vehicles as well. I don’t think they could balance it as well with the smaller maps/numbers

(DoubleDigit) #26

We are getting lost here, the idea was to put some pressure on SD who on their own part pressure Bethesda to release a trailer that shows some action… Arrgghhhh

(tokamak) #27

Don’t be so selfish. the COD advertisement machine is still roaring and every footage you release now is going to be nothing but a dry fart in the media.

(DoubleDigit) #28

So how come every footage we see of BFBC2 isn’t?

(tokamak) #29

What BFBC2 footage?

Oh, right I believe I just proved my own point.

Can you smack yourself over the head please? Thank you.

(DarkangelUK) #31

To be fair… i had no idea there was BFBC2 footage released either… cos i was too busy playing MW2

(DoubleDigit) #32

From not knowing to being arrogant it’s a long way.

(DarkangelUK) #33

Errr… what’s arrogance got to do with this?

(DoubleDigit) #34

Wasn’t talking about you…

(digibob) #35

Let’s keep this civil, shall we.

In fairness, there has been a LOT of recent Bad Company 2 footage -

Just a few of the many BFBC2 gamplay videos over the internet. These are only from Gametrailers.com as well, if you look on other sites such as IGN, you will probably find loads more.

Isn’t the PS3 version already in open beta and the PC version getting one early 2010? I mean, BF:BC2 is miles ahead of Brink right now. So what, will Bethesda wait until after March before actually starting up the PR machine?

(Ragoo) #38

It has been explained several times why they should wait until after Christmas, so be patient as all of us are (or trying to be)

(RoryGreen) #39

Yep, BF:BC2 has a beta for PS3 now. I wouldn’t call it ‘open’ because it requires a code to download, but I think this is just to limit numbers because they don’t have enough servers.

I think the reason that it has a beta is because all of the recent Battlefield games have had huge problems with the servers at release (Bad Company 1 and 1943).

In my opinion, the best way to get publicity is to get a few sites like IGN or Gametrailers.com to do an ‘exclusive’ gameplay reveal and get these websites to make it well known (Like they did with MW2). Just get some exclusive interviews and gameplay to some of these sites and the game will become well known.

They really haven’t picked a particularly good time to release. They should leave it a bit longer and release the game late spring/early summer and get Inside Xbox to have some interviews to get the game more widely known. This is how battlefield 1943 got so many early sales, they had loads of features on Xbox Live dashboard which got the game known. Get Bethesda to go the same way!!!

(tokamak) #40

We’re just all armchair marketing experts. I’m sure Bethesda knows what they’re doing.
