Trade In Is At Best, A Huge Scam.

I just came back to DB after quite a few months and was pleased to see that we could now trade in undesirable cards. Out of the few dozen golds I’ve made, only about 2 of them were not the puss yellowish green camo. I honestly can’t play with those cards because looking at the color makes me feel sick. It’s just a disgusting color that is only represented naturally by vile things such as vomit, infections and puss. I traded in a dozen golds in the hopes that I could get something in gold or red camo. Right away, I was instantly shocked and disgusted with the results. How so? I ended up trading in 2 of the same loadouts along with another undesirable loadout and I got… The same exact loadout in the same exact puss yellowish green as the duplicates I used to trade in! That’s right, folks. I traded in 2 duplicates and another cards to get the exact same card as the 2 duplicates. How is that even remotely acceptable? I tried trade in a few more times and continued to get the exact same vile camos. I’ve been told by the devs time and time again throughout release that camo patterns have the exact same chance to show up and yet over 90% of all the gold cards I’ve ever had were in puss yellowish green. Now after 100 hours of play time and sinking in over 100USD into this game, this is what I’ve got:

x2 Alienware loadouts that everyone and their mother has for mercs I don’t play.

x2 Containment loadouts for mercs I don’t play.

x4 Gold loadouts that includes a merc I don’t own and a camo I can’t play with without feeling sick.

That means that after 100 hours of play time and over 100USD spent into the game, I have TWO loadouts I am pleased with. Sure, you can say that it was my fault for not sticking with Bronze or Silver loadouts, but one of the most important aspects of a shooter for me is how the weapons you hold actually look. They are constantly on your screen, so they can’t be ugly or bothersome. But heck, I would have been more than happy to have the Urban Camo silver loadouts, expect for the fact that I never got them for mercs I play as. Cobalts? By all means, both look amazing but as you’ll see in my loadout, I’ve NEVER seen a cobalt in my entire playtime, regardless of how much I’ve played or how much cash I threw at my screen. And to be clear, I’ve used up all of my credits. What you’re seeing is a load of time and money and using all the resources at my disposal in-game to obtain the following.

Going from the days of paying around 60USD and having everything you’d want right off the bat or at least earning them after a few days of play, I don’t know how much more I can take of DB. I’ve been playing shooters since the early 90’s and that includes Wolf ET in the early 2000’s. I want to support Splash Damage and I do enjoy DB for the feeling of nostalgia for Wolf ET, but this is pretty ridiculous. I’ve just been constantly stepped on. Heck, out of the two gold loadouts that I am pleased with, only one of them has the loadout AND camo that I wanted. The other simply being a camo I find acceptable. As someone who likes to play a handful of mercs, this is both frustrating and heavily depressing. I’ve never really complained about this game before and I should point out that I’ve been with DB since closed beta. So while this is in fact a huge angry text-wall, this is the first time I’ve let my feelings out. So please, don’t just respond with “deal with it” or “stop crying”. I’ve been dealing with it for years and just now broke down to the point that I had to write this out. So I apologize in advance if this just sounds like mindless complaining. I’m not saying I’m quitting after this or that DB is bad. Heck, I’ve seen plenty of folks who have played this long who have everything they want, so I even know that I’m one of the few that have just been utterly decimated by the RNG. But really, when nothing goes right in your life, you at least want a game, a fantasy, to give you some hope. Wolf ET helped me get through some dark times… I guess I just wish DB did the same.

the BL71 is an amazing card for sawbonez if you learn to use the blishlok.
i currently have that card in silver and i’d use it over a crotzni card.

If it was up to me I’d have customisable cards, but I feel they would never do that as people would only pay to get one cobalt godly customised card per merc. With a good pricing system I’m sure they could make it work, but I doubt anything of the sort will be implemented any time soon, if not ever.

Not sure what you’re talking about. All gold cards have that color scheme. You got the alternate one on Phantom right there.

There are three gold variants, that table is wrong (same goes for silver, there are two variants).

You can get pure gold, green/wood/gold and black/red

Yeah, that’s also missing a load of promotion loadouts as well. So to be clear, there are in fact 3 gold loadout camos and the devs have said the chances of getting any camo for gold is the same, but that’s not even close to what I’ve seen, which is why I’ve asked the dev team a handful of times throughout release.

While I certainly wouldn’t argue it’s a “scam”, it is most definitely the biggest and most laughable rip-off I’ve seen in a game for a long time. A scam and a rip-off are very different, because you are perfectly aware of the odds and what you are purchasing before you do so, but it’s definitely not value for money - leading to it feeling like a rip-off.

Thankfully, the trade-in prices themselves will definitely be getting a change in the near future, so it won’t be 3-for-1 and a ridiculous amount of credits. Once the trading system is in place, I think it will even out a lot of the nonsense the current business model has, but it definitely won’t be a full “fix”.

Sadly, trading won’t be in the game for a short while either, so right now we’re just sitting here twiddling our thumbs, hoping for a good improvement to the trade-in’s. :confused: I know the feeling though - I bought a bunch of Elite CW cases with the launch of the CW update and was really willing to support the devs, yet the only CW cards I got were totally useless and not for mercs I play. The biggest slap in the face is the fact that I can’t actually do anything with them.

They are just there. Existing. For no reason. -sigh-

So, lesson learned the hard way for me too, and I can’t begin tell you how much I am anticipating the loadout trading feature.

I don’t really mind all the RNG as it currently is, because I’m still ok with the “we’re still in beta” excuse, as long as they make it “better” during the beta.

The RNG is pretty ridiculous and I’d like to compare this to League of Legends, as that’s one of the other free to play game that also allows you to unlock new characters and cosmetics for real money. I’ve spent on that game way more money I’d like to admit, but there at least I can see the product and pay for it, while in here, I’m pretty much just buying a lottery ticket.

The RNG is real, on top rolling for a merc you roll for a loadout and on top of that you also roll for a skin. One loadout should not feel better than the other, that’s why I’d like that ALL ability enhancing augments get removed or get added to the mercs by default if those current loadouts are considered a lot better than other loadouts without it.
The last two mercs, Phoenix and Stoker are great examples of rather balanced loadouts in my opinion where some players prefer guns/augments on one card while others prefer other loadouts(for Phoenix only KE81 seems a little unfair as it is the only loadout that has 2 augments that boost your healing ability).

And if I’m correct, it was noted on a stream, that the devs are actually looking into separating the loadouts and skins.

Yes, it’s a rip-off, not a scam. My poor wording came from my emotions. I felt scammed out of my money and time, but it’s not a scam. As for knowing the odds, I didn’t. I tried looking up, for example, if you traded in 3 golds, if it was possible to get the same exact loadout you traded in. Because I did in fact trade in duplicates and got the same exact loadout for one of my trade in’s even with the same exact camo. And really, I didn’t even think they would do such an under-handed thing. As for the ‘trading system’, this is the first time hearing that it will be added in. Last time I was around, it was nothing more than an unlikely possibility that they would ever add in trading loadouts. If I knew they were going to tweak trade-in or add loadout trading, I wouldn’t have wasted everything I’ve earned and bought… Now I feel even worse knowing that they know the system is heavily flawed and I’ll probably get nothing out of it. All I can really ask is, if they know it’s a rip-off, why is it still in the game?

Why don’t you trade up to cobalt instead of wanting to trade-in those golds? Beside devs already said to avoid using it since they are going to change it soon.

I feel sorry for you. But SD/Nexon advised not use the trade-in until it was “fixed”.
They should have disabled it with the last patch to prevent such things to happen.

You should check your graphics OP. Its either pure green-metallic with wood or gold. If your vomit looks like that, check a doctor.
Don’t like RNG-gambling? Buy bronze loadouts. That easy.

It’s pretty funny, because I got my first (and only) cobalt in the first 100 cases I opened. I’m sure of that because I saved up 100 cases before opening. It’s the Bushwacke with SMG9, Steady, Tough, Chopper. Not my favourite.

There’s no warning about using trade in within the game itself, so I had no way of knowing until everyone told me after the fact when I wrote this thread. I didn’t think they would have something in the game that they themselves consider a rip-off.

Warning about what? You get one RANDOM loadout of a merc. If the odds gave u 2 same skins, too bad. Don’t make it like SD are evil wizards and know which skin u dislike, so they give them to you.
Srsly, I would love to get crown and bamboo on all my golds since I dislike swiss-red and Cobalts.
