Trade In Is At Best, A Huge Scam.

They should have disabled it with the last patch to prevent such things to happen.
Thing is, as I said, I’ve been gone for quite some time. There’s no warning about using trade in within the game itself, so I had no way of knowing until everyone told me after the fact when I wrote this thread. I didn’t think they would have something in the game that they themselves consider a rip-off.
Fully agree, and I completely see where you’re coming from, especially the last sentence.

The code must be unbearable unwieldy if you can’t do a tiny update that disables the function of a UI button (trade-in accept or whatever it’s labeled) and slap a sticker “Under repairs” on it to save people from shooting themselves in the foot like this.

It’s not even a minor issue, given the time invested and possibly money spent on the cards traded; “beta” only gets you only so far once you charge money.

Though I am certain I am mistaken (I seem to be on these forums), and the ardent defenders will correct me. :wink:

What do you think is in need of repair in the current system? You get one random loadout out of the 9 and a random skin.
I don’t really understand why people think RNG is broken. It’s all random, and the game doesn’t hate you. Get that and you will be less mad about the system. (I traded-up 17 Auras over Bronze before I got one with Blishlok, I’m not mad because I know it’s all random, nothing more, nothing less.)
About the “no duplicated loadouts” thing from Trade-In someone suggested. I would say it’s pretty stupid imo. If I have one loadout but want a different skin, I can’t get it because no dups?

@Fuze
It’s allowed to use common sense, which you will find helps a lot in terms of not getting ripped off.

But come on, 3 golds for a single one didn’t seem fishy at all to you?

While a sign saying that an update coming for the Trade Ins would be nice, people should have enough common sense to spot from a mile off that 3 for 1 isn’t right.

It could be altered to not get the same loadout and skin of a card you traded in. I wouldn’t want to discard 3 of my loadout cards and some credits to get exactly the same card as one I just discarded.

Because three randomly awarded cards traded in for a single random reward is ridiculous.

Because there should be no randomness at some point.

Some are so indoctrinated by all the design bullshit that has emerged from the f2p models that they embrace them in a near masochistic fashion and will in turn defend them with every breath.

Watching AJ’s coverage of Halo 5’s micro-transactions made me cry on the inside as how far down the mountain the younger generation has been pushed. :wink:

It’s not like the ones who implemented it figured that out while making the system so it’s not a stretch that some players didn’t as well.

If you care about gameplay, then you can avoid the randomness. You can buy mercs and specific bronze loadouts with no rng. You only need to worry about rng if you want the purely cosmetic “upgrades”. From SD’s perspective, I think the system could use some work because there isn’t a way to spend a reasonable amount of money on cosmetics. However, SD losing money doesn’t hurt me directly, so I’m not sure why I should care. Ignore the stuff that is clearly a waste of money/credits and you can play the game just fine.

Yes I agree, the RNG is really really bad, but its really not a scam… there is absolutely no deceit. Its just a bad deal.

There are 3 different variants of gold cards: Crown, Swiss Red and Bamboo. @Fuze, I don’t know why you don’t like Bamboo skins, they are better than ugly Crown. :P
He mentioned they look like pus or vomit. Maybe he’s a proffessional doctor ?
Clearly not, otherwise he’d know puss is a shade between almost white to mustard yellow, depending on the amount of bacteria. I would provide example pictures, but that probably counts as gore.
If there’s green in your wounds you have another problem entirely.

Indeed, hence why I said they should have disabled it. Disabling that UI command button would have proven sufficient on its own… 2min work at worse, and a small <10 Mo hotfix as it does not interfere with UE3 packages…

@Fuze
Keep that Vasili for when trading is implemented would gladly buy it off you or trade for something in an equal tier. My favorite Vasili loadout.

(Rosskii) #33

3:1 trade-in does seem unfair. I’d be happy with 2:1

(Fuze) #34

Update: I thought it would be hilarious to share this bit of information with everyone. I decided to throw more money at the problem and wouldn’t you know it, I’ve somehow gotten everything I could have ever asked for, including my favorite loadout on my favorite merc in Containment camo as well as my first two cobalts, even tho I won’t be using them. I’m also suddenly getting the other gold camos at the expected rate that I should. Either I’ve been borked this entire time or the universe decided I’ve been shat on enough and turned everything around.
