Track Switch bug on rail gun map?

On 2 or 3 occasions, as an ally, I have been entirely unable to close the track switch. The activate switch just won’t work. This doesn’t happen all the time, on all servers, but a couple of close matches were lost (IMHO) because I couldn’t lower switch.

On one round, I spent 45 seconds, trying the switch from all angles, and a teammate also reported that the actvate command wouldn’t close the track switch.

I wish this was a consistent bug, frustrating that its not.

If it matters, I’m using the linux client on SuSE 8.2. Everything else in great.

When you use the switch, it performs whatever action is most beneficial to your team (this applies to both Allies and Axis). If the switch is already in that position, it won’t change it.

Example:

Axis are moving the tug towards the depot to load the ammo. It’s just passed the switch.

At this point the Allies want to keep the switch open so they can move the tug back as far away from the depot as possible, while the Axis want to close the switch to prevent this until they’ve loaded the ammo.

Any Allies activating the switch will open it, while any Axis activating it will close it. Once the ammo is loaded the roles reverse up until the tug passes the switch again.

Make any sense?

Makes sense.

I wish it wouldn’t be a “smart” switch and just open or close as desired.

It’s just that, as the tug is closing in to axis ammo loading dock, I’d just as soon close it and mine the switch area ASAP. Requiring timing (ie the ammo has just been loaded) is tough with a chaotic firefight erupting all the time.

However, now that I know, I’ll try to accomodate.

By the way. ET is amazing. Thanks for all the tough, hard work. I would have bought it in a heartbeat, and I hope SD can produce some full blown RtCW based games in the future. Hell, a 9-12 map ET expansion pack would be a purchase for me! The game may be free, but I’d pay for quality expansions (and bots!).
