Top 100 Games of all Time

Was reading through the new issue (came out yesterday) of PC Gamer and looking at their list of the top 100 games of all time when I came across one of the best games I have ever played, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.

I have to admit I was a little more than surprised to see it only made it to number 70 on their list though, I’d have ranked it higher.

Tried looking for the article online but couldn’t find one that actually matched up with the magazine, but did manage to find it here and it is in the 69th spot.

wow, that link to the pcgamer top 100 missed the mark terribly, although it was comforting to see cod 4 in at 98 (it really shouldn’t even make the list) i think they scored some for brownie points, battlefield in at the 36 spot is disturbing shoulda been around W: ET’s spot, GTA 4 even being on a list of top PC games is the biggest joke I’ve ever seen, that game was the biggest POS and still is, story can’t fix the game if graphically/performance wise it’s just broken, CS: S shoulda been top 5 imho, putting q3a anywhere outside of the top 10 also causes questions about the list’s credibility, and the straw that broke the camel’s back? TF2 at 3, seriously, not a bad game but nowhere near a top 100 game, i’d put that more around CoD 4 and move Wolf: ET to it’s spot more than anything, whoever made that list never played these games i hope, otherwise i’d honestly like to meet them on a QW server cuz they obviously are cannon fodder for real gamers

How they calculate those lists over the years is beyond me. In the past I have read their Top 100 lists, and they weren’t bad. Not good either. But by now they seem to have got worse. I can name many games that are not worth their spot on that list and many others that deserve to be there. Where is Rise of Nations, Neverwinter Nights? And Solitare is there? :rolleyes: And I don’t get the fact that HL2 tops such lists so easily. I have experienced better stories in other games and had better fun in other games.

Such list is pointless anyway, leaning towards the level of pathetic. For example Il-2 Sturmovik imo is a far better game than Wings of Victory, especially multiplayer wise but WoV is the more realistic and has the better campaign. I love most of those games, but for their own reasons. Such lists should be in alphabetical order as fas as I’m concerned if they are to be credible. But W:ET is certainly one of those games that deserves one of those Top 100 spots! :slight_smile:

I was going through that list from back to front and nearly had my post here about how extremely worthless that list was for not having Deus Ex, but it’s at #1 :slight_smile:
It’s definately one of the best games I’ve played, along with Mechwarrior 4, Tomb Raider 3 and ETQW (all of which didn’t make the list -.-)

Putting stuff like Portal, World of Goo, audiosurf etc in there is just rubbish, those games are fun, but by no means worth a title like this for being too short and/or repetitive. The concept of audiosurf is nice, but as a game it won’t interest you for long. Portal is nice, but is way too short to interest you for long. World of goo is the best of the 3 and I suppose I could live with that being on the list. Also, no Unreal Tournament!

Stopped subscribing to PC Gamer Sweden when they didn’t give ET:QW a good grade. The reviewer was a BF2 fanboy.

ET:QW is top 5 best multiplayer games of all time. BF2 could also be there if it wasn’t for its awful community.
