TOOOO many Airstrikes!! Damn Field Ops.

(MuffinMan) #21

i don’t see many field ops in ET and even when there are some on a team it seems to me that there are way less airstrikes than in rtcw, in fact if you think of mp_assault everybody covered the bit between the gates with strikes, it was a crucial task to get through that area and i saw masses of people dying there but i didn’t see anybody complain about airstrikes then, you actually can often run away/hide from an airstrike

what bothers me is artillery as with higher experience points you are able to constantly fire at certain places like the bridge and tank at fuel dump, it’s almost impossible to repair both before there’s the next strike, so you really need a decent team otherwise axis have an easy win…
anyway this is not fun but war so don’t complain about getting killed! :bump:

I think this is the third class that is too powerful.

Only two more to go…

Then charge foward.

The path of the air strike is generally based on where the FieldOps who threw the canister is standing. For example most FieldOps who throw a canister will throw it and then run backward… and the resulting air strike will go in a T pattern. the bottom half of the T being the smoke thrown, and top half being where the strike will be.

So usually the best way to dodge strikes is to see how the smoke canister was thrown and usually either charging foward or away works best… unless the FO is smart… ala DasMonkey

I used alot of airstrikes when I began to play, but now I am having way more fun with artillery.

1 Smoke shot, looks like a dud airstrike canister (like if someone stands on it or something) then after 2-3 seconds a the show begins :). most peoples always expect air strikes, so when they see the smoke disappear, they think it’s safe to go… Think again :stuck_out_tongue:

I think it’s a viable gameplay element that shouldn’t be restricted. If someone knows what they are doing they will go easy on the airstrikes and let their team advance…if they don’t, then they are a newbie. Some newbies will use flamethrowers and accidentally slaughter their entire team, should that be restricted? Some will panzer himself and 3 other teammates just to kill a single enemy, should that be restricted?

It all boils down to experience. Just because a few less knowlegdable players choose to abuse airstrikes doesn’t mean it should be ruined for the rest of us.

I just had a non-enjoyable experience on oasis with allied.

We breached the wall, But Axis had about 7 Field ops, that was connstant air strike near spawns… get really boring and annoying.

(BlackDeath) #27

yeah, that really does suck when that happens…

Same with Rail Gun…

Change your spawn point.

There is a script around here somewhere for that.

Spawn at a different point and sneak up on those bastards and take em out…

(Cyber-Knight) #29

umm… like i said before, some maps only have one spawn point.

Rail Gun, Oasis are examples of them (assuming no flag capture)

and not only that, you’re crammed in a super tight room in that one and only spawn.

I don’t mind the Axis Goldrush spawn, cuz there are 3 exits and it isn’t that crammed.

destroy the command post of the enemys
not so many airstrikes are possible then because of the recharge time
sorry 4 my english

Actually I only go Medic and Engineer ,never used Field Ops once.
