Ohh hi! Brink, Rad Soldiers and ET. Rad Soldiers mostly because of the art style. Don’t want to go into detail with Brink. ET because of a few core gameplay features.

(warbie) #3

RTCW and ET with the classes and objectives, CoD with the maps and Benny Hill back shooting!

(BomBaKlaK) #4

To much COD in the maps and WolfET for the rest and a bit of ETQW but still no strogg … Strogg skin for the futur ?

(tokamak) #5

Shootingwise It reminds me the most of the orginal F.E.A.R multiplayer.

Which is not really a good thing.

(en2ie) #6

Reminds me of the indoor ETQW bits, with the style of objectives - but with way less chokepoints. The guns actually remind me alot of brink - perhaps because of the art style or the sounds.

(tokamak) #7

This game plays in no way like indoor ETQW.

(acQu) #8

CoD + ET objectives and classes.

However (and important is that all the following is just my personal opinion): do not make the mistake to market towards ET. Yes, it has some resemblance to ET, but it is totally not even close in many things where i think that even though this is in alpha, the general direction and path is almost entirely going towards CoD. Especially the movement system + the maps + the modern militiray shooter ambience are what makes this 80% CoD. 20% ET are mostly just the classes and the objectives.

Another thing is that i also find it problematic to pronounce the classbased teamplay so hard. Ok, this is what defines the game more or less, but it is not something special anymore. I think this is what is not realized. Implementing classbased gameplay is nothing original anymore and should not be mistaken to be a guarantee for success. In todays games it is really just, albeit an important, incredient to the game. Maybe it is just opinion and the marketing on the game has not begun already, but i see already that it is the general opinion that classes and FPS are something to rediscover and not been in games since 10 years (W:ET or ETQW). Totally not the case.

30% - Brink
10% - Cod
10% - BF3
10% - Tribes

I wish it captured the magic of ET like it says on the frontpage, but it doesn’t do that yet :+)

Reminds me of Brink/Cod/CS:S/ET

(Dragonji) #11

CS:S? DB has nothing similar to CS series so far.

(Stumperd) #12

W:ET and COD
Art style: Brink!

The first time I saw DB I thought about Brink, because of style from the characters and environment.

(Humate) #15

It reminds me a bit of rush mode in BF, with a slower TTK,
But its been so long since ive played that.

(Hundopercent) #16

Sadly. the more I play it the more it feels like Brink because the maps are just terrible at too many locations. Art style is Brinkish but I could care less about that. Weapon wise it feels like nothing I can relate too because I’ve never played an FPS that wants low damage high spread, usually it’s high damage/spread low damage/high accuracy.

Ultimately, it is more my style of game, I just wish it played closer to RtCW. Fast pace, simple mechanics, with solid gameplay. I know it’s an alpha, but it feels really clunky playing right now and I’m not sure if they plan on addressing that or not.

(Kendle) #17

For me it’s Brink, but done properly, it’s what Brink should have been, or at least what I imagined it to be before I played it.

On the fence about the gun-play, I’d still prefer shorter TTK, deadlier weapons etc., at the moment there’s still too much reward for tracking and not enough for reflexes or positioning for my liking, but it’s better since the last patch at least.

Hard to say what it reminds me of, it’s not ET, at least how I remember it (has been a long time, admittedly) and it’s not RTCW, it’s not deadly enough, or in a sense “dirty” enough, to be RTCW.

I am enjoying playing it however, and look forward to more maps, and IMO it’s a good thing that it’s not a straight remake of anything else.

(Ashog) #18

Altho it’s an alpha still, imho it’s in a way better than RTCW. RTCW was too deadly and brutal, once you made a mistake and the team got killed, was really hard to change the situation at objective - the game didn’t allow any mistakes.
DB with higher TTK, still improves this mistake fatality situation, plus, what is very important to me, the longer TTK makes it more rewarding for improving the aim and tracking skill. As I said many times before, longer TTK requires tracking the head of an enemy with yr xhair consistently and for a slightly longer time than in RTCW which is harder. You just need to get used to that and you will love it. It’s more skill oriented, I tell ya.

(Apples) #19

SoF2 gold on the shooting part

Nothing in particular in the moving part yet.

Artstyle is just lovely, Brinkish art allways been pretty.

I just recently played some W:ET and OMFG!!! The hitbox in ET is a giant square box. Headshots still have to be direct, but wow I never noticed that you could literally be aiming an inch off target and reg damage. Not sure if this might be affecting some opinions of reg in DB vs RTCW/ET if they both use the same hitbox. The DB TTK for body hits is very close to ETQW, however the difference here is that in ETQW headshots had a 2.5x multiplier vs DB’s 2x. I still feel like DB is just an awkward game to transition into at first, but I think that overtime people will become more used to it and it will feel better. I know ET vs ETQW was quite a different feeling as well for a lot of people, but I felt that both games offered equally satisfying game play and skill curves once the differences were accepted.
