Just stay away from anyone wearing a Black Trenchcoat if you’re allies. RUn the other way if u have to.

Also try and make the hypocritical nazi bastard a little happier in his march across europe, drop as many ammo/med packs as possible in your flight to safety in an attempt to quench his bloodlust and make him a generally nicer person.

Just to add to the tip on stopping airstrikes, you can crouch on the canister such that your shadow covers it completely. Move away from the canister quickly after the roar of the plane subsides. The canister will explode (proning might be a little slow for this, I don’t know, never tried).

In addition, you can (still) abort a panzer by simply leaning left/right. Too bad you can’t drop it (which is faster) like in RtCW.

For those new to RtCW/ET/Q3, strafe jumping is the fastest way to move on level/downward sloping terrain. Just to give an idea of how fast it is, it only takes about 7-8 jumps from the tank spawn to the bank in Gold Rush.

Consider increasing your FOV angle to see more with the cg_fov command. Default is 90, I personally use 110 (could use more if I had a 17+ inch monitor). The trade-off to this is that everything becomes scaled down horizontally.

Accuracy of most weapons (SMG guns esp.) are the same for proned and crouched position. Don’t prone unnecessarily.

Use jumping to duck into cover fast or to avoid getting completely gibbed by panzers. Also avoids easy headshots while you take cover.

Don’t jump and shoot around, this is not Q3 or the older versions of CS, your bullet spread increases tremendously when you’re off the ground. It might prove useful in a point blank confrontation however.

If the ceiling is high (or not there at all), you can abort a grenade by throwing it up straight.

Move unpredictably when you’re being shot at. Common sense, but I see people moving in straight lines all the time even when they know they’re being targetted (esp by snipers).

I’ve never heard so much nonsense.

  • if your spawn has a narrow exis and enemies are nearby stop in the exit and start shooting and the baddies, that way your body will protect your teammates and prevent them from getting outside were they might get shot. Your team will love you for this.
  • If you are a soldier with a MG-42, NEVER switch back to the pistol to run faster, otherwise you would be defenceless once you see an enemy. And if you see one: just fire away, the MG-42 is extremely accurate even if fired Rambo-Style. Oh, and if your are running through narrow corridors try to be the one leading the group, those stupid n00bs would otherwise just pass you by because they can run faster but this game is about teamplay, right ? You are holdingt the team together !
  • CovOps are cooll, you need lots of them to win the game ! Your team has just one Medic and no FieldOps ? Not important, as long as you have tons of CovOps everyting is good! Once you are a CovOps you have to remember: -never scan for mines! Otherwise the game would be less exciting, wouldn’t it ? If you got a uniform, continue to run along with your teammates, thats not suspicious at all! If the enemy charges your position and you are a disguised CovOps, run along with the enemy because your teammates can easily distinguish you from the baddies during the firefight. But if you get shot complain immediately! Those fucking n00b TKers ! SmokeGrenades: they are useless, no big explosions will follow like those following the nifty ones the FieldOps has, so don’t use them at all. If you see that the Footbridge was build or the Axis has build the FuelDump fortifications just step aside and wait for an Eng. there is nothing you could do here. Same goes for Command Posts, Generators, or …
  • Engineer: The Engineer was greatly improved over RtCW, they now have Landmines! Use them extensively, your team has millions of them! It’s best to plant them on remote spots were enemies will seldom travel but just to be sure that you get the ones actually coming that way plant as many landmines on one spot as possible! If you got a message like ‘West Fortification breeched’ followed by cries: ‘We need an engineer’ dont listen, your job is to frag as many enemies as possible, that way your team will win the map!
  • FieldOps: NEVER distribute ammo packs to your teammates, they will drain your power bar and than you are unable tho throw those nice colourful smoke grenades! The smoke grenades are also extremely usefull to take out enemies inside buildings, just throw your grenade through the window and wait for the firework!
  • All: the little flags sticking out of the ground are powerups (the M stands for Mega-XP-Boost), try to collect them all by running over them! If you want a FieldOps to dish out Ammo or a Medic to dish out HealthPacks just walk in front of them and stare them right into the eyes. you dont have to say anytyhing, they’ll know what you want them to do, and try to stand in front of them, facing them all the time while he dishes out his packs. No enemy would dare to sneak up from your back and the Medic can shout right through you, right ? If you are hit, immediately cry for a medic, no matter how small your wound is, you are the most important player and need to be cured immediately! Repeated ‘Medic’ calls are extremey effective because than the medic knows that you need him right now and will leave whatever he was doing just to heal you 15HP point losses! Grenades: no need to clock them down, just throw them at your enemy, he will stand still for the next five seconds so that you can get your kill.

Ahhhh so it’s you Senator that has been training the many legions that follow this advice

Personally I find it really dumb to write this here, since it might and it will screw, and it is screwing at this moment a game somewhere :banghead:

Peoples read forums while downloading the game (before they can even get the manual) and they read the tips from someone who is here for more then a month or older, and they are 1 day old. If they don’t read the manual THEY WILL do what you give them as tips.

(BoltyBoy) #28

Hey thanks for the tips guys. I’ve obviously been playing RTCW wrong for all this time. In fact I’m now getting to the ET “Player Winner” screen after only a few minutes of playing on a server. Yeah I’m guessing many of you haven’t seen the “Player Winner” screen. It’s a bit of a let down to be honest. I was expecting some cool end cut scene but it just exits the match and flashes up some message saying something about “kicked”.

I presume this is meant to mean “You Kicked arse”.

There’s also a bad spelling error in it. It says about “Player Complaints” - but I think that’s meant to read “Player compliments”. So maybe the game works that a player is the ultimate winner of a server if they get enough “Player compliments”.

Trouble is I can’t get back on a server after winning it. I guess this is beacuse they don’t want too good players making it hard for all the noobs.

VampMaster I’m fairly sure even people who have never played this game before in their life could figure out they are having a bit of fun and aren’t serious.

I hope at least

The most effective class is the soldier. The deadliest soldier is one with a SMG. Make sure to pick the thompson or MP-40 when you’re a solder, because then you will be unstoppable.

If someone is screaming “Defend our objective” on a map like battery or Fuel Dump, dont listen to them. Why defend when you can be on the front lines? All this guy wants is someone to accompany him becuase he is “Defending”

If one of your teammates throws a big pretty colored cloud, begin sprinting towards it. The closer you get, the more xp you will gain. To claim your well deserved award, hit F1

Make sure if someone is having a one on one battle with someone else, strafing around, begin opening with full automatic fire. Sure you have an equal chance of killing your “teammate”, but they’ll understand that you were invaluable in gaining that kill.

If there is one enemy in a large group of your teammates, and you got a panzer, you’re in luck! Fire that panzer right into the group, you teammates will that that mortar soldier you just killed was invaluable in saving the objective, and was worth the lives of 5 of your teammates.

(wudan) #31

This. Info. Is. Useless.

(BoltyBoy) #32

Yeah right Wudan. I bet you’re one of those players that thinks a field op’s task is to give out ammo and medics are meant to help revive injured players. Jeez man- read the instructions will ya!

(Iamthefallen) #33

Actually I’d rather see a newbie with a SMG than a panzer or flame…that’s usually ugly… Playing with SMG is probably a good idea before they learn how to control their fire and aim ok.
