Thoughts on Vault?

Anyone have thoughts on Vault so far? For me personally, it’s shaping up to be one of my favorite maps in the game since they took away Dome. (I actually liked Dome). It’s so well balanced between wide open areas like the first objective and closed spaces like the second. But I’ve never once lost my way or not know where I am. It’s freaking fantastic. Compared to the piece of s*** that is Dickyard, Vault is a shining example of map creation. I love it.

As a bit of a newer player, I’d really like some subtle lighting changes, and colouring. The second ibj plays very well for me personally, but I just can’t remember the paths through the city blocks.

Edit: Minor request, Make Vault at night instead? Dickyard looks like it was set in the early evening, why not continue from there?

I love it actually. I think it’s one of the best maps SD has released. Lots of options to flank, even the first objective has two secondaries to help attackers if they’re struggling with the already attacker-sided objective, but they don’t get in the way like in dockyard.
Dockyard felt needlessly large and complex, whereas Vault is small and very pleasant.
Another thing to note is that Vault actually has places for mercs to set up camp. Whereas maps like dockyard try to make things as awkward for both teams to set up a sort of central area to push from, vault supports this, but not so much that the match grinds to a halt.

I really hope we get more small maps like this in the future.

I liked it somewhat at first, but it’s terrible because once again it is plagued with invisible walls. This just kills maps in my opinion. Dome is/was the best because it has the least amount of invisible walls obstructing various trick jumps and useful positions. Dockyard was nice until it came out (blockout version was cool). I feel like Vault could be an awesome map if not for all of the invisible walls and awkward obstructions that are just unnecessary. Dirty Bomb focuses on movement and somewhat of a parkour element, but the maps really downplay this. It makes me sad. :frowning:

I don’t like attacking side on first obj… but otherwise its pretty fun.
Maybe if the game would grace me with a useful team it wouldn’t be so bad.

Actually that’s not true… They removed it from everything except ranked. Shoe said in the last video that they are working on “improvements” to the map and it should be about a month or two and it’ll be re-released into the map pool. Which is a shame because I thought it was fine as it was, everyone else just hated it.

It took time but it grew on me. I dont mind it now

Really!? I didn’t know this… Well that’s awful news. I haven’t had time to play so I haven’t really noticed much because I’ve been trying to play JUST Vault. I wish they would have at least kept it as an option. D: I remember reading in the update notes or something that it was just getting removed from quick join, but will still be available via server browser.

It was mostly fine as is, but there were some areas which could use improvements (mainly the first objective, maybe adding a 3rd main route through the middle for attackers- one requiring trick jumps and such while also giving the defenders another vantage point or cover to counter it). I’m really worried that they will kill my favorite map… Their map decisions are sadly never what I want. Can’t get lucky! :frowning:

from the 2 times i managed to play Vault, it looks really good. The secondary objectives are very interesting and really meaningful, and the 2nd objective secondary generator that shuts off defender’s is brilliant (especially since they can still lob spam through the ‘keyhole’ and suddenly destroy the generator.

A bit of a clustershag in 8v8 servers, especially on 1st obj if attackers dont distract the MG nest. Haven’t seen the 3rd objective at all yet.

Looking forward to checking out in ranked.

It’s mostly good but the machinegun post in the first objective is kind of overpowered, I wish they opened the roof so fire supports could flush people out of there.

the generator is also hard to kill with arty or kira since its blocked by a car.

I find the 2nd objective extremely chaotic. I don’t feel safe from any direction. Not upset by it, it’s a challenging Objective from both sides.

I’ve only played it a few times but so far no complaints…then again I don’t really have any complaints about any maps…no real problems with dockyard and I kinda like dome.

I find second objective very confusing and first one hard to take as attacker if your team do not know what to do and let defenders spam the MG.

Last objective positioning is silly ,also why the distance to run from spawn ? And as always why the 2 exit choke points ?

its 2 branched to 3

if people keep pushing they wont get spawncamped
