This update give me hope beta will be over soon these map update make the game looknway more polished and ready just release tortious and the last map then release the non beta already and guve us some sort of founders like cards(the ones that are more than just lame skin changes) for us long time players.
Thoughts from a fellow veteran player leaving the game....

its a good post and many points strike true.
In the end it can all be summarized though: no online team-FPS title can survive 3-4 years with 6, SMALL, maps.
Maps are the playgrounds on which all metas revolve. If you don’t introduce new maps, the meta stagnates. It is quite striking and a testament to a great composition of mercs in the game, that the meta was able to shift as much as it did in the last few years of comp; with slight balance tweaks pushing this or that merc from useless to godly (anyone remember Arty or Redeye in 2015?)
This is true if there is no community around then game, if we will only trust SD to build all matches for us and community it will fail. Never played hardcore put are there pickup matches planned through irc? This game is like ET great fun to play pub, you ofc play pub different from scrim, and endless fun to play scrims where strategy comes to play.
Is there a big problem to set up DBpickup bot on irc so people can sign up there and join a server? I would be willing to set that up.
We play PUGs very frequently at DBNation: http://dbnation.net/
Just join the Discord, you can find the link in their website.
I’ll check it out, sounds good.
Aren’t you speaking a bit too soon? The game hasn’t died yet. What is true is that it seems to have missed its growth spurt.
DB is like that little secret place in school behind the laboratory and by the bushes where only you and your bestest friends play with toy guns having a blast and nobody knows about it.

Thunder player: Hey who decided that?!
Proxy Player 2: That Old guy did! Right Old guy?
Old Guy: yeah whatever, now can i get my money back?
Proxy Player 2: later when we are bored with this you “maybe” get your money back
In case you’re not reading the rhedit, Locki wrote the following in replay to sagan’s comments:
It’s quite frustrating to read your list of issues, know what we have planned, but not be able to immediately satisfy you because of confidentiality… However! What I can say is it’s not quite true that’s it’s our game and we can do what we want right now, but we have something big to announce very shortly that will change all that.
What I can tel you is that every feature in your list (except melle 2.0 - i don’t know what that is) and referees commands (is that OSP style?) are in a plan we’re writing right now. We’ve been waiting till we’re able to do DB properly, and it feels like we’re days away.
The important part here I feel is:
in a plan we’re writing right now
This just in: devs finally have a plan for the game, more at 11, followed by a live interview with Faraleth on why his community poll wasn’t grounds for a plan but an ancient warrior’s wish list apparently is
lol, too bad you missed the ACTUAL IMPORTANT part:
“What I can say is it’s not quite true that’s it’s our game and we can do what we want right now, but we have something big to announce very shortly that will change all that.”
but. go ahead slag SD some more

How is that more important than essentially letting slip that this year has been directionless without any kind of plan? It may be that it was a throwaway comment in what was meant to be a well-meaning and positive message, but hey, actions speak louder than words, right?

The problem with that, is that it is another “just trust us, everything will be great. we only need some more time. Almost there”. I have the feeling that it has become their standard response that they are already planning it, when somebody has a request. But chances are they will fail on delivering it or it will turn out faulty or buggy. I really hope, I am wrong.
Well thats just it though really. You’re 100% right.
“Planning”
Time to make it, time to test it, time to fix bugs before release and all that. I mean you could be talking years before such things were made, and the problem most people have with the game right now is the slow development, so time is not something too many people are going to give much more of right now. Everyones patience is running thin.
We lost a lot of casuals recently, now we’re starting to lose a lot of veterans, and the veterans who are sticking around are borderline ready to give up because like you say, the development is just too slow and everyone is bored of waiting. I’ve had too many conversations lately with people who have been playing the game since alpha or closed beta who are just ready to give up, have no faith left, and are just waiting for something new that isn’t COD with gameplay as good so they can move on.
I have no doubt DB can still make a turn around because at the end of the day the gameplay is still awesome. But something big has to happen, and it has to happen fast. They really need to start delivering now because there is a lot of veterans or even newer competitive players who are already hanging from a cliff and wont hold on for much longer. Myself included.
Why dont you give it a shot? Would be at least more constructive than posting smug one-liners.
This is another one of those “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink things”.
I think it’s better to wait to see what happens next but… I know some can’t do that any more. Thankfully everything changes with time… Everything…

Too bad you’re missing the point that a multiplayer game and its devs are nothing without players. They can do everything. And they can lose every player they have. And you can run around empty maps as the last DB players. That’s why they should want to do what the mass of their playerbase wants. Or we gonna have another Brink.
One can only assume the announcement coming shortly will be re: the chicken corp that was buying SD or whatever. I mean they never officially announced it, so I can only assume it hadn’t actually happened yet or something.
If that is the case though, what concerns me is what is going to come from “a big announcement”. Will SD still have a say in the direction the game takes? Or will the chicken corp simply inject funds into SD and let them do their own thing at a much faster and better rate?
Of course I’m just speculating here, so I could be way off mark, but I do hope that if the announcement is about the chicken corp then I sure hope it doesn’t mean that SD will lose a whole lot of control over what happens in game.
