Thompsons Appearing Out Of Nowhere

I’ve been noticing a strange bug that’s been happening on alot of servers since the latest upgrades, Thompson machine guns frequently appear out of nowhere and fall to the ground. I’ve run into quite a few of these. I can’t complain much about it since gifts from the ET God is nice when you’re low on ammo. I haven’t played axis to see if the axis machine guns appear out of thin air too. Has anyone else notice this happening or am I the only one? :banana:

I’m gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you aren’t talking about smg’s left by dead or d/c’ed bodies.

but no, have yet to see anything like that.

It might be that a spectator has just disconnected, and his gun fell to the ground (from where he was viewing). I think that’s happened before.

It also happens when someone on your team drops. The gun shows up right in front of you if you’re lucky.

Had this happen to me quite often, it’s always when someone leaves the server (not sure if they were spectating or on a side) but there is/was never anyone near me at the time.

But it’s very welcome when ur short of ammo :clap:

happened to me once when i was low on ammo, the thompson just appeared in front of me as i was hiding in the axis watchtower on fueldump. :smiley:

I have experienced it.
I was on fueldump, playing as allied. Spawned in the second spawn, ran thru tunnel, the middle way out to the open snowy area (the same way the tank goes, in other words.) I ran out in the open, and followed the left side mountain. II had noone behind me. There are some stones there, large one. (I wish I could do those in my editor, but that is another story.) I was behind the stones, when suddenly a thompson appears. It falls to the ground, as if someone ontop of me had just died or disconnected. It falls right infront of me, and I pick it up. v583! I could have been someone behind me that disconnected. But I am not sure.

I’m positive it’s not from deceased players cuz they’d just appear and drop to the ground right in front of me and no one is around. plus they’ve also been laying around where teammates havent died.

Can you pick them up and use them? (I assume yes going on your extra ammo content)

Or are they a random non-functional artifact like the tank turret browning guns that sometimes appear on the goldrush map?

Yes you can use the guns that appear, can come in handy :drink:

Yep you can pick them up and use them which is the greatest thing about them , they usually give you 30 ammo :clap:

Thank you thank you, I have been blaming that is late at night or that I’m drunk when I have seen guns dropping right at my feet. Now I know that at least not that is to be blamed for.

i experienced this ‘holy weapon drop’ too. i found it only happens when
someone leaves the game. every time i get some extra ammo this way
i can see a ‘playerX disconnected’ message in the lower left of the screen.

also it comes in handy quite often, i would welcome this bug to be removed.
if a player leaves, he just might fall onto the ground and leave his weapon
as he would when being shot… but weapons coming out of nowhere… nah,
don’t want to become dependent on it :moo:

It happened to me again today. I got a K43 this way now. 2 things were the same with before: 1) i was prone both times
2) i had selected weaponbank 6

i was defending the south radar when out of nowhere dropped a burrito…i have no clue where it came from but it was spicey.I thought about it a while and realized it wasnt a burrito but an mp40…so i picked it up.

I was playing last night and this strange phenomenon occur to me i was an axis field ops on lying prone on top of the wooden shelter next to main building. And all of a sudden a MP40 landed in front of my face, no idea where it came from can’t say if anyone disconnected at the same point or anything.

Just thought i would add my experience

I’ve seen bodies fly a long way when caught right with heavy fire but i don’t think i’ve ever seen guns going with them.

It can happen at any time, I think.
I’ve gotten “guns from heaven” while running across the map.
I’ve gotten Panzers, MG42s, mp40s, and more. It seems to be whatever weapon you’re carrying in bank 3.
I think it happens when a someone is spectating you - whether it’s a dead teammate or a spectator - and they disconnect or switch teams.

I think this is somehow related to players who leave the server. Always when this happens to me I see a “player disconnected” message in console. Maybe when this guy was on your team and spectating you (because he is dead) when he disconnects he drops a weapon as if he would be playing.
