If someone could help me I would really appreciate that. So here’s the deal: I keep getting message “this server is for low pings only” on servers where my ping is usually under 40. I have gotten that message before but then i just pressed reconnect and it connected but now it just says again that it’s for low pings only. I know i can play on other servers but it just sucks when it appears on server where we should have clan war or on some good server where all my mates play. So again if anyone had a solution for this I would be very gratefull.
This server is for low pings only
Keep trying to connect. Some times it will say “for low pings only” a few times, before you can connect.
Yea i get it aswell on some good servers! kinda sucks to have to press reconnect everytime a new map loads in! Anyone found a reason or a fix for this?
I never had that problem, until my cable service started acting up. Comcast changed something in their basic infrastructure awhile back, offering more bandwith and adding checks for multiple PC’s on one connection among other things.
Well this transition period also saw my ping jumping, from a normal 50ish to 999 for like 5 seconds, and then back to normal. In ET, I got the ‘for low pings only’ message because of this. While I was connecting, if my ping jumped, then I got booted. Reconnecting several times got around this.
sv_maxping has always been buggy in ET. The only way to fix this is to contact the server admins and ask them to disable it.
In all quake3 based games AFAIK.
Even if it worked right, it would be a fairly pointless restriction. A lot of people think that players with bad connections lag the server, but this is simply untrue. Warpy players can be annoying to play against, but this isn’t directly related to their ping. A player with a smooth 300 ping is far less annoying than a player has loss and a ping that jumps around from 50-150.
You will get the ‘low pings only’ error more often if there are problems with your connection. In that case, just re-trying a few times should get you in.
