I’m not sure if it’s you in the video or not… I don’t want to come off as a jerk but what your asking is for everyone else to suffer because you had an accident and it’s not right.

You can still play the game on a console with your controller, for the PC i would suggest less ‘‘hand intensive’’ games such as RTS or MMO’s. You can use the mouse and keyboard with just one hand or even use a keypad and put it on the side of your working hand and make keyboard shortcuts on it.

Nobody will suffer if they add in a feature. He can’t play with keyboard and mouse and many othe people just prefer controllers.

Maybe someone wants to hook up their PC to a TV and use a controller, it’s exactly like a 360 but with better graphics.

But TC, you’re really amazing with only one hand. You’re better than me when I use two hands :stuck_out_tongue:
However…can’t you like, fix the nerves or something? The doc fixed me up good when my nerves went all screwy.

I am sorry mate but you don’t understand. I play many of games on pc with my pad online, Crysis 2, Cod: Black ops and I am always at top. So don’t ever tell me what I should and should’nt do.

Not cool, and no one would suffer you fool

(Onehandband1t) #5

Any moderators around today?

(Plaguemonkey) #6

Dude seriously, “suffer”? How in the hell are you going to suffer from having more options, and ways to play the game?

Please enlighten us on how you will suffer from anyone using a controller in a PC game?

I personally don’t use controllers for FPS, but I sure as hell don’t suffer because others do.

Oh, and Band1t, I love the name dude, if you wanna play together sometime hit me up, steam ID is Plaguemonkey. Dont pay any attention to this tool.

(Senyin) #7

I think he ment well, no need for throwing tools and fools around.
I’m not sure where the “everyone else has to suffer” comes from but
he is confused maybe.

Anyway, I fully support the need for full controller support.
I don’t give a tapirs ass for it but I know others will be very happy to have it.
And I want them to have it.

Okay, i fail to see a problem. Wasn’t it confirmed that consoles have fully remappable controls?
Even on the pc you should be able to fully use the controller using the in_joy* cvars.

I am optimistic that someone will find a way to activate controller support. I have set up a good Pinnacle game profile for Brink Mapped with 360 Button’s. Work’s like a dream

(hideinlight) #10

I had to write a mutator to activate full controller support for UT3 so that it has all the “bells and whistles” the console has, like smartjumping, target adhesion etc. Not gonna go through that again…

You could have a gamepad only option available. Having both mouse and gamepad players in the same game results in a few complications, for instance the gamepad doesn’t use the same aiming system as the mouse. Whoever played UT3 on the PS3 with a mouse should be able to recall how sluggish it felt, that’s because the mouse is basically emulating the analog stick.

This guy deserves a medal, let alone Controller support…Can’t see no reason why this should not be implemented, Splash do the guy a favour and help him out…

Band1t have you ever thought of using the razor naga mouse?..You can use RMB to run MMB for ADS, and theres lots of side buttons for Left & right Straffe / reload ect…

http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.169418900

You’ll have the precision and movement that comes standard with the usual M+KB setup and easy playable with one hand…

Just a thought, good luck mate…

(flamemc) #12

I definatly agree to having controller support, i only use the xbox 360 controller with my pc games, I just dont feel comfy with the k/m. So i would really love someone to find out how to enable it.

@hideinlight

do you not have the mutator still or would you have to re-write it.

Just bumping this up.

Teammates would suffer, they would get frustrated. And this being PC it’s quite possible there would be no way to create “controller only” servers, one average mouse player could probably cut through like a knife through butter.

By the way, can someone point me to a youtube video where a keyboard+mouse player plays against people using controllers ?

I am pretty sure it happens. I play with controller against KB+M players and I can comfortably say, that I make it to top of leaderboards.

What’s crazy to me is that is was in there before. Read the review on G4. He states that he played it on a PC with a gamepad back at quakecon.

Here it is, although playing UT3 with anything other than the new black controllers just isn’t optimal.
If you don’t have one your gonna have to emulate your controller as one.

Just on the off-chance that anyone actually reads this post before screaming more:

ETQW had controller support, but not official controller support. These are not the same thing. From what SD have said, Brink is pretty much the same.

If it works like it did in ETQW, you just bind your controller functions using the console, or a config file (autoexec is probably the best bet, assuming Brink even uses one).

TL;DR: Controller support is probably already in Brink. You won’t get a big GUI for binding the keys up, but if you research into how Brink does control binding and config files, you can probably get yourself set up in an hour or two.

mad respect for onehandband1t, true inspiration.
