This is why I Need full controller support!

(meccs) #21

Wtf? No one will suffer because of controller support.

Btw I just watched your Crysis 2 video. Amazing! I think you would kick my butt online… and I can use both hands!

Major skill there son, I’m very impressed. It’s remarkable how humans can adapt to situations that seem almost impossible to begin with. I know it’s only gaming, but you’ve not given up on something you love doing and you’ve overcome a disability that would put most people in your position off for life. Crazy props!

I have a question: did you just learn on the xbox pad because you had it there and didn’t want to take a break while searching for a specialist controller, or did you find it better/more intuitive to use than, say, something like this?

Have you tried these kinds of specialist peripherals at all? Or how about a multi button mouse for games that require less button mapping?

Curious to know.

I can totally understand him wanting a controller. I thought when it has the games for windows logo, one of the things that meant was 360 controller support.

(jfunk) #24

GFW requires XBOX controller support only when ANY gamepads are supported. Thus, if you simply don’t support gamepads at all, you also don’t have to support XBOX controllers.

OP, as I think has been mentioned, while there is no “official” support, I believe you should be able to get up and running with some config file editing to bind everything. Being that this is IdTech4 engine, it’s probably nearly identical to previous games with the same engine, so you should be able to find some instructions or sample configs out there from people who have already done so (like Doom3 or Quake Wars).

By the way, I’m also curious if you’ve ever checked out anything like that modular one handed controller linked above. That thing looks pretty cool, the way you can move the components around to the configuration of your choice.

I would love to have controller support for 360 gamepads. I simply prefer to play FPS games this way and I don’t care for the arguments about ‘superior’ controls using m/k. I’m very disappointed Splash Damage didn’t implement this from the get-go and chances of them doing so now must be slim, which is a crying shame.

Brink is a great game, but I know I’d enjoy it even more if I could only play it the way I actually want to.

Yes, there are work-arounds, but they’re fiddly and far from perfect. Please, SD, please give us proper controller support.

(hailey) #26

I dont know why they would remove it in the first place, were they worried people would say its a console port because it has full controller support? Stupid

(murka) #27

They haven’t removed anything. The controller support is “full”, just not in any in-game menus, you have to fiddle with cvars or let someone make a config.

(Onehandband1t) #28

Yea as I have heard. Hopefully someone finds a way to get the cfg to work.

(Xepherian) #29

true badassery was found in this thread.

(ratioguy) #30

QQ for every game you wanna play or get joy2key & glovepie, build it yourself and be done with it…

(Onehandband1t) #31

Just keeping this afloat

(fearlessfox) #32

Be good of you to reply to posts asking questions instead of just placing empty bumps.

(Onehandband1t) #33

Sorry dude, I have been busy. Seriously thanks for all your guys help and support on the matter I really appreciate it. I am very happy now using pinnacle profiler but still just don’t quiet have the feel of a proper pad config. But begger’s can’t be choosers I spose, overall very happy

(Honelith) #34

Pretty amazing how well you can still play games. I’m also hoping BRINK will officially add UI integrated controller support for people like yourself and for people who prefer joypad over keyboard and mouse.

Would love to see a video of you playing BRINK too.

I am glad you asked, now I have Brink and a good controller setup I will post Some Brink footage dude.

(Hdserialkiller) #37

Keyboard and mouse stomps controllers all day if anything. Mouse is more precise than sticks, but who can afford to beef up their rig every month to keep up with the rich kid down the street? Consoles offer an even playing field.

(Twistedpandora) #38

hey guys, just wondering why dont you do this?. i have a Razer Onza gaming pad same as xbox 360 pad (well it is an xbox pad) i use a bit of software called Xpadder lets you map all the buttons and sticks, fully customizable and works with the wired 360 pad.

also for the guy that started the thread get one of thease http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.221675100/categoryId.35156900 it would be prefect for you if you have enough mobility to use a pad.

(MarkcusD) #39

People keep saying this but no one knows how to enable it. Why won’t SD just tell us?

(MarkcusD) #40

Also this thread has a staff post icon but I can’t find any posts from SD.
