This game requires NO SKILL

(Nail) #101

OP thinks skill = finding the RIGHT crate to hide behind, and tactics = shoot guy that appears in croshair

The only people who want K/D shown are the ones who only play for K/D, I’m reminded of something that gets posted possibly too often but, “L2P”

Thats kind of a harsh generalization is it not?

I have played competively and sometimes my team gets raped. And I end up getting a neg ratio.
I would still prefer to see it regardless of what it is.

Imagine if I said “the only people who do not want kd are those who would be negative most of the time”. Its not exactly accurate statement is it?

(Mad Hatter) #103

Blanket statements are no good no matter which way they go. But it does seem that the majority of those who want K/D want it for the wrong reasons.

(Nail) #104

nope, not accurate, what might be accurate is to say the people who don’t want K/D R, just don’t care about it, they judge their progress by other variables

For PC you can see your K/D. I use this macro
`stats display total_kills
stats display total_deaths
stats display total_damage
admin kick

Btw I do think K/D is a useful stat. But to think having gone 10-1 makes you better than the guy who went 11-15 doesn’t really hold weight. Also If he died that much it’s likely he was at a choke point and breaking down the defense or offense. The guy who went 10-1 probably had softer targets due to spawn camping or playing campfest 2011 and picking off weaker/unsuspecting targets.

To say it’s meaningless is to say that you are close minded.

Great Call OP!!! * throws his medication for mental health in toilet and flushes* I got a secret for you guys, dont tell it to anyone else, but our planet is in fact a giant flat cookie floating in a glass of water!

Seriously, I wont talk about your points OP, since many has proven you wrong all the way. Ill say again, Brink as a high learning curve and it makes many players, who have a good accuracy in Deathmatch or frag games, frustrated about their inability to surpass other players who have more practice and got better at the game.

Its a fast-paced game, you can die fast too. Teamplay/objective games requires skills in many fields. Some gets better at stuff, others get better at everything and whiners w/o skills get killed. Period.

Filthy beasts for all " no-skills-required" whiners…

(legend123) #107

Have you ever played Quake, Unreal, RTCW, W:ET thats fast. Not Brink.
The only thing that is “fast” is perhaps the light body type.
The same thing goes for learning curve. Brink isnt some difficult game to learn compared to the above.

(Ero-Sennin) #108

Im a former clan leader on RTCW, im a former CAL competitor on Wolf:ET, former member of the biggest clan on ETQW named TAW, had a lot of hours in Quake 2 in college co-ed (100 + players all going to the same college best years ever), played every UT, COD, MOH titles except the modern warfare 2, been on BF titles, Battlefield heroes, Combat Arms, Jedi knight titles in multiplay, still playing CSS, playing regularly TF2, played WOW for 4 years since beta ( wtf a mmo?!!) only to mention PC titles since ive played console in my younger years (golden eye, PDZero Metroid on gamecube …). Even tried rainbow six 3 on XBOX and liked it…

" im not even winded!" says Blu scout. “Come cry some more” says Red Heavy. The games ive played the most ARE RTCW, WOlf:ET and ETQW. No, Brink is fast-paced like those 3 games, and a lot. Ive seen games ending in less than 2 minutes when opposed to a very good team or being with a very bad team made out DM K/D number collectors.

I played beta beach RTCW and fell in love, cheated RTCW with Wolf:ET, whored myself with ETQW. Today Brink is my Butch and im its bitch. I like fast-paced respawn objective teamplay games, Brink makes me happy! TY SD! :stroggbanana:

Ahh, it’s fast when you run fast, I see… but if you run slow all the other parts of the game turn slow too, yea?

You’re looking way too much on the surface. If you can’t see the similarities between Brink and the games you mentioned I think you should lay off the amphetamine

(Kingcole225) #110
This is proved wrong already in this thread and made fun of too. Because it’s even more idiotic than worrying about a good K/D ratio.

lol @ the pot calling the kettle black.
I see no proof, only the mindless babblings of those with no grasp on the game mechanics.

talking about no skill required, just saying, my 5 years old daughter leveled a hunter up to lvl 25 all be herself in WOW CAT. Thats e-z mode playing w/o any skills whatsoever. FPS games… a minimal requirement in skills is in order. Made another test with my 3 years old boy, he learned to play CSS and TF2 in less than 2 hours each and he is really good at taking headshots… at his own teammates. His fav class is soldier, do you see the picture? Mind me if you think im crazed but i got little genius at home and they learn by looking me play. While playing Brink, my daugther, interested in seeing the new FPS daddy bought, said " Daddy , that game seems to be very difficult to learn and play." :o If a 5 years old can make that conclusion… what point the OP missed? Everything?

I love my kids…

(riptide) #112

The proof is that I can outxp by jeopardizing myself to refill my supply meter to get XP and I can refuse to heal people to revive them for even more XP. I would be helping my team more by spawn camping people and ending with a 5-1 K/D with way less XP. This isn’t advocating K/D it’s pointing out that there a just as bad if not worse flaws in this.

Here’s another example I’m playing soldier and we are all off teh spawn… I give you the extra ammo/mags for the 60ish xp even though I could have gotten more by waiting and following you and refilling when you got low… I will get more xp/min by spamming my pips refilling ammo and rushing in to die. Than I would actually supporting the objective and fighting along side you.

Granted there are exceptions but I assure you it’s much more reliable to farm XP like this than it is to play as a team so I think I’ve proven it MOST DEFINITELY does not mean most xp= most beneficial to the team.

God your inability to actually think or comprehend is amazing and it’s you that doesn’t fully understand the game mechanics.

(Ero-Sennin) #113

Anyway, you get capped at lvl 20 and xps stop adding to your score so i guess farming xp dont last very long.

(riptide) #114

The point isn’t that you make use of the XP…

(SpawnTDK) #115

the best fps of all times … hmm

Quake 2

k thx bye

Thanx kiddo:rolleyes: My point is: If it takes no skills, ill send my kids on the servers to own you all, because hey, just mash buttons! Ideal for my 3 year old boy. My daughter? ive enlisted her in pro elite scrimming, alone i her own team since it wont be fair if she gets teammates. Plus she’s a scout player in TF2, so light body soldier and all owned!!..

So yeah im youre hero and youll never be WORTHY! EVER!

pfffffffffff! go get adoptions papers, ill make you a God by becoming your father. Together we will crush the emperor and rule over the galaxy as father and son… Look into your heart and you’ll see that its true…

(Bayonet) #118

Brink MP is all about teamwork. To be honest, if you’d say you play CoD MP, you can’t talk about skill of any kind, that game is a cancer. And it’s a shame you can’t use teamwork, but it’s not the games fault.

(Smoochy) #119
I like to have “pure” characters who have all the abilities of their class. Guess I’m just OCD that way
A team selection will always include at least 1 operative even without a hack objective because their skills are useful. I find when we have 2 of each class the team seems well balanced.
It would be nice to select a character when you join a map based on what people are already playing but if I find a server with no medics and noone willing to play medic I move on (unless I’m playing my medic of course). There are enough servers to find a group that needs you quickly enough.

Instead of reseting a character why not just make a new one? It’s super easy to level up :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

EDIT: I’m not sure about EMP grenades. I’m a couple levels away from them still. From what I’ve seen they can be useful when used at the right time (and they shut down a hack objective for a short while too)
i dont get that much time to play so it takes a while to level up. agree on the ability to swap chars at map start. every time i play my engi/soldier i find we have no medics!!! grrr.
