This game requires NO SKILL

OP is a goof, but (sadly) he’s basically right. This is not a deep or competitive game. You can get to the top of the scoreboard just doing nothing other than reviving people all game. The guns are wonky – the same gun will either eviscerate the target in half a clip or jump around unpredictably and cause random damage. And there isn’t any team strategy because you’re all just converging on one part of the map. There is no risk vs. reward calculus because there’s nothing to be gained or lost from dying or not dying.

The team that wins is the team that is willing to pile corpses on top of the objective. The best player is the one who can press X the most. That doesn’t mean it isn’t fun on some level, but it is not a skill-based shooter.
I couldn’t really read with laughter after ‘CS the greatest FPS of all time’ comment, sorry.

Actually, have I been baited here, with the K/D comment at the bottom I can’t tell any more.

CS/CoD, corner inspection, no thanks. Do I go left, do I go right, or do I just wait here until they think I’ve gone the other way? No thanks, I like my gameplay to be a more active than ‘wait’.
Are u suggesting CS is not the best FPS game of all time? I’d like to hear what u think is…Halo? LOL.
CS revolutionized the FPS genre forever. Most of the big game series today, IE, COD and Baddlefield are still reusing ideas first innovated in CS.

I am playing on PC so I was hoping for a more skill based game rather than just spray and jump around. I havent played Wolfenstein or Quake Wars so I dunno how they were… (they came out at a bad time…).

Maybe I need to play more but Ive already spent a week trying to like it and it just seems like it should be a freeware game or a mod, not a $50 stand alone FPS thats suppose to be revolutionary when its just a step backwards. This game misses out on real tactics and elements we have seen evolve since CS.

What the hell is that?

(JuggallinJuggolo) #24

Actually CS was essentially the same as every other FPS game before it that had multi player options.

If you want a game that truly revolutionized FPS genre, try RtCW or ET.

Thinking you’re so pro and great at every game because you’re good at CS isn’t really something to be proud of, you’re more likely to get made fun of, especially after you said that you are “feared and reviled”. That is just so laughable, I mean come on, seriously.

Epic fail.

I agree there is epic fail in this thread, and it’s all in the first post.

-sigh-

It’s “JuggAlo.” You deserve to get your neck wet for that one, “yo.”

I know it’s not proper to play grammar/spelling police on net forums, and I usually don’t, but it certainly doesn’t help when the argument itself is so baseless.

yeah, lets be rude. No opinion allowed.

SD forum was realy nice place. But now? Why?
You claim they have low IQs, yet they all exhibited superior writing skills to your own. How any of those responses illustrated anything derogatory in terms of intelligence, especially when compared to the OP, I do not know. I do know, however, that it is a touch hypocritical to claim they all have “LOW IQ,” and then complain about how others are being rude.

What is a Juggalo…a whiner.

(murka) #32

CS the best fps game, umad? If you had said something like Quake 3, you’d be taken more seriously.

You call yourself professional yet you haven’t felt the difference between guns? Or is it the new age where pro=good, good=average, super megahyper elite=professional.

I fail to see how Battlefield is re-using ideas from CS other than pointing your gun and shooting men.
COD I can agree on, especially with S&D.
Please elaborate…

You seem to have just come here to harp on about how 1337 CS is compared to other games, and how awesome you apparently are.

It is just getting so old with all the lone wolf types complaining about the CoF. Seriously, if you want anything but aim skill to matter, you have to mess with accuracy. That’s how it is in Brink, and you have to expand your skillset if you want to perform well. If these people can’t adapt to that, then why are they playing an objective oriented class based game?

Epic troll.

Hats off to you sir.

I suddenly like this forum.

If you’re being serious, it’s what fans of ICP call themselves if I remember correctly. Males are Juggalos and females are Juggaletes

Magnets. How do they work!

200 hours played, and I disagree with your assumptions.

I would recommend scrimming, as JUST LIKE CS, it’s a completely different world.

But here’s the crux of it, games don’t REQUIRE skill any more. That’s dead. The last game to do that was a remake of TFC called Fortress Forever, and the tiny playerbase showed really how popular it was.

Gone are the days of Quake 1 and Counter-Strike, where a team of new players could be slaughtered by one experienced player. Personally, I like games with high “skill caps”, although it makes public play dreadfully boring, as once you get to a certain level, you’re essentially untouchable.

What are your “pro” credentials? You talk about CS, what teams did you play for? What leagues did you play?

Regardless, the sentiment I hear around my camp, is that while this game isn’t CPL GotY pt2, it certainly is a assload of fun.

More like

Spellchecks. How do they work!
