The single-click weapons are still out-dpsing the “hold the mouse button down and spray” weapons at every range, including ranges where smgs are supposed to be dominating. Basically weapons that require tracking the head to do massive damage lose to weapons that can just hit the body and win a 1v1. It’s just not rewarding to be on the losing end against someone wielding a weapon that has lots of damage and has an easier follow-up shot i.e. doesn’t need to hit the head to win.
This game has changed..

okay then lets compare
Dreiss AR has 135 body DPS
Grandeur has 130 body DPS
Crotzni has 130 DPS
Kek-10 has 128.3 DPS
but then, the semi-auto rifles has less ammo in magazine and that means its not very forgiving if you miss.
The ones that holds SMG’s usually have higher speed than 120HP mercs
these type of mercs also has less than 120HP
both type of weapon is pretty much equal on CQC
the ones that holds SMG’s usually have higher speed than 120HP mercs

Yes it has, and it will change more in the future. What’s with these Paladins and OW comparisons? Reason why I play DB, is because it’s unlike those games. I don’t see ultimates and rock paper-scissors class balance appearing in DB the slightest.
You forgot those target lock abilities that do the work for you!

Instagib is when someone drops dead into a finished state without even going down first from being alive. Sniper rifles used to be able to do that with headshots at full health.
-that’s not what instagib is
-I don’t remember any rifle instakilling without any possibility of reviving, in this game

@376E1AE459B1dude, 2-3 people repairing ev?
only 1 guy can repair ev at a time. 2 guys repairing wont make it goes faster.
…like I’ve reached lvl70 without knowing that…
You don’t repair the ev alone, you need people around to protect you, and ideally another eng to take over when you’re dead.
…but those stairs are magnets, everyone goes up there, no one cares about the ev anymore.
And let’s not pretend that it’s from the stairs/bridge that good protection is done. If you haven’t repaired the EV within the first few respawns, most likely it’s because your team doesn’t care, and you have lost.
In fact, it would be nice if the game had some kind of win/loss gambling game running within the first minute of the game (one that wouldn’t give out any prize obviously, not to lose on purpose). I’m pretty sure I can predict most wins within the first minute, or even seconds for some maps. Like Trainyard… when, as defender, your whole team runs to the right, you pretty much know you’ve lost (your only chance being that the other team is full of noobs as well and also runs to their left).

make a buffer zone between EV and enemies is a better tactic imo
the engie can keep pushing the ev while the rest of the team intercept enemy before they even have a chance to kill the ev
buut…that requires most of the player in the team to have at least communication

Instagib
Stands for Instant Giblets, referring to one-hit kills in FPS games where the victim is instantly turned into ‘giblets’, or explodes.
basically insta-gib is instantly make the body into giblets (in pieces) or grey (un-reviveable)
in DB this can be achieved if you deal Merc HPx2 damage
for example, Aura is 80HP
she took 10 damage and her HP is now 70
vasilli with MOA can deal 150dmg with a headshot to aura resulting aura to become dead and greyed, cant be revived.
the sniper rifles used to deal more than 160dmg on headshot, but then it was nerfed to prevent instagibbing right away.
Again, while I don’t remember any rifle full-instakilling any merc (are you talking about early betas?), I -certainly- have no memory of rifles instagibbing, that is, exploding mercs. I can’t even imagine even a beta having been released with instagibbing rifles. Wouldn’t make any sense.
I don’t even know what “reducing damage” would have to do with instagibbing. That would mean that a rifle headshot of a near-zero health merc would instagib him, and it obviously does not. Pretty sure instagibbing has to do with the origin of the damage, and that only exploding stuff are marked as “gibbable”.
Not surprised someone who struggles to aim likes to main Javelin lul
Just being honest, but this game is probably not for you. It’s was and still is heavily focused on the player’s ability to aim. I think what you are experiencing is that you are just facing better players more often now since the population isn’t what it use to be.

I am not a software engineer but that is the way I think health is programmed in this game:
When a merc is alive a merc’s health can have any positive value until it reaches 0 hp. Then the merc is made immobile but still revivable. When you shoot a downed merc, its hp goes from 0 to a negative value. When it reaches a certain negative value, it will finally kill the merc, putting it into limbo.
some weapons have such a high damage that it damages you from positive health, through the point of immobilization until the threshold of negative value, so it instantly and finally kills you.
The term of gibbing is just a certain way this last state is reached. If it is with explosives, the merc gets torn apart into giblets. If it is a sniper head shot, the merc loses its head and if it is just shots, it just grey out.
The damage of a sniper headshot was so high, that it took (most) mercs health all the way to the negative threshold. I am not sure but it still does it for light mercs.
- Should a cloaked Phantom slow down the countdown of an offensive C4 by 50% if he’s on defensive side and speed up the countdown by 10% due to EMP effects?
- Should objective specialists (Proxy, Fletcher, Bushwhacker, Turtle) be given the ability to to deliverable containers 20% faster because they are objective specialists?
I agree with one point. Ever since missions dont force me to play certain game modes i play SW exclusively. RIP CMM, at least for now.

how did you reach level 70 without noticing these?
sniper rifles, revivr gun are capable of one hit unrevivable.
explosive like fragger nade and proxy mine can gib but only in its specific AoE

Instagibbing on sniper rifle’s headshot damage was removed about a year ago, or should I say nerfed. It also removed jump snipes as well if you didn’t know. I’m guessing you’re either a new player, a non-sniper player, someone who hardly goes on forums or someone who doesn’t read patch notes.
